When i used to live in the midlands are knew loads of Baggies supporters, down to earth, good people. They are a similar club to us, lurching along on decades on up and downs but generally underachieving, with the vast majority maintaining a sense of humour through it all, even when we were beating them twice a season. I hope this doesn't get drawn out of proportion just because of a minority of social media warriors (every club has some - including us) and an inept referee. They aren't Arsenal, and most of their fans aren't the entitled whoppers you get at the Emirates. This. A club I've always had time for with a decent fanbase. They could be us, just with really shitty accents.

Pearson needs to be first signing of the summer if possible in my opinion. Good.news for you is I think he will be here next year if not the first jury's firmly out for me he needs a proper boot camp.summer if he's to do what we need They probably all need a bootcamp pre season but i don't think the modern players would suit them the pulis/ macari days are long gone.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-live-ben-wilmot-8359039How's Ben Wilmot?Neil: He's currerntly still in hospital. We've had the scan done and unfortunately he's got a fracture in his back and will miss the rest of the season. I spoke to him last night. He's getting medication for the pain. We're hoping he'll be discharged today or tomorrow and we can start his recovery. I don't think there is need for surgery but it's not nice to see a lad stretchered off.

Desperately disappointing for him, can only imagine how excruciating the pain must be too.
Still a bit surprised they opted to stand him up for a bit given there was clear neck/back involvement and at the time it took for the stretcher to come on (not sure if Woolmer had anything to do with it) which Tye was getting incredibly agitated at. Can't fuck around with an injury like this, hope we give him maximal time to heal and get fully fit before we even consider bringing him back, we've seen with Ryan over the years what coming back half baked can result in.
Get well soon Ben

With back injuries a bit of a Pandora's box as we've seen with Shawcross and Tuanzebe, it's so frustrating with him starting to look the part.
Centre-half is just another complete question mark now.

Pearson has been massively let down by a totally invisible Laurent and Smallbone since Cov. He simply cannot carry a midfield on his own, with the two named players in a different postcode to him when we are out of possession, and also in possession they are not showing for the ball anywhere near enough. Our mini-run was down primarily to Pearson's influence and with a preseason and games behind him he'll be our best player next season. Amazing he's getting grief for not hiding when others get nothing for doing just that. This I agree the balance is wrong, would probably only have one of Laurent and Smallbone as both want space to run into. Hoever, Pearson is not blameless. I’m possession he drops too deep too often and often slows things down. He needs to be more proactive, further up the pitch in possession by looking to receive the ball in tighter areas, that will help create a tighter midfield unit. We then need a creative player alongside. I personally believe Powell as good as anyone in the division in this role, can head, finish, pass and press effectively but not sure AN agrees

Thought it would be a fracture sadly. I did mine many years ago in very similar circumstances. I've never recovered and had to stop playing sport completely.
Thankfully Ben will have the very best of care and should make a full recovery.

As these things go, isn't a fracture sort of good news? Should be a straightforward recovery, fingers crossed

There will be a big fallout from this.
Because of the way he's dangerously pulled him back, and it NOT being the sort of thing you usually see in a match, and with how dangerous it clearly is, I think there could be legal action especially if it is serious enough to end Bens career.
The more I see the challenge the more angry I get. It's nasty and it was always going to cause a serious injury, and not just a leg injury, but one to the back or head

Is that West Brom tweet still up and running? Its there but they’ve just replied with this Both accidents - I can’t believe that there was the intention to cause such a distressing outcome although reckless play imo Most of the time , fortunately, these sort of incidents result in not very serious injuries for most players Evertons Seamus Coleman more recently Gomez, both suffered nasty injuries I’m not sure there was such very unprofessional response from players or the clubs involved- apologies were offered immediately I would hope that West Brom put that right now the severity of the injury has been confirmed As for the fans from both clubs, a small section will forever bear a grudge for this situation Stoke v Arsenal games even now Shawcross / Ramsay incident often gets a mention ( Ramsay retuned to international football) Best wishes Ben for a full recovery

It could have killed him, it's that serious. I said that at the game and its being a tad dramatic but it absolutely could have done. It's not being dramatic at all. It was a ludicrous act to drag someone to the floor in mid air. Had he flipped just a tiny bit more, which is easily done at high speed, he could have easily landed on his neck. The lad who did it needs banning.
