Looked like a disc injury. Hope he is ok.
It's a real shame as he has been playing very well.

Looked like a disc injury. Hope is ok. It's a real shame as he has been playing very well recently. Seems to always happen to the best players. At least its near the season end rather than at the start of the season. Perhaps see Tuanzebe in for the last few games.

He was always going to end up landing on his back. Reckless by the Baggies player. I thought it might have been a dislocated shoulder but sounds like it’s his back.

That Thomas-Asante is getting some rightful stick. The boos are relentless.

It’s all about precautions….hopefully he’ll be back in training next week
Doesn’t excuse the referee though as a bad tackle isn’t always a two footed lunge

He clearly didn't intend to do the damage he did. but he cheated in a reckless way that put the opponent in hospital, there should have been some sanction. That Thomas-Asante is getting some rightful stick. The boos are relentless.

Liam Lawrence says it looked like its his pelvis . Hopefully just a bruised tailbone and not his back. Tailbone can be very sore but usually no long term issues, back on the other hand…see Axel T…

That referee could have prevented that injury by pulling them up on it the two or three times it happened previously.
The referees first priority should be the safety of the players, his evidently wasn't.

As soon as he stood up he was in a world of pain. It was the 3rd occasion where they clearly fouled a player who was air borne.
Scandalous officiating

Rugby is a great example where the consequences of interfering with a player illegally while off the ground are understood and suitably penalised.

Neil hopeful it’s a back spasm That was what I thought when he tried to get up and couldn’t. It looked like he just had no strength to move which is what happens when your back spasms. Hopefully it is just something like that, but it doesn’t mean it’s a short term thing. I’ve suffered with mine on and off for years. One of those injuries that can hamper players, a bit like the Shawcross one. All the best, Ben!

I suffer from back issues and watching him struggle to stand up was a very harrowing reminder of some of the dark places I've been to with mine.
Best case is a spasm. Worst case a stress fracture. Less likely a disc issue as they tend to happen in a different way.

A cowards challenge by the cheating twat Thomas-Asante.
He was the same at Salford in fairness seen plenty of him, shame as he has all the attributes required to be a really good player.

He had a sly tug of his shirt while he was in mid air, dangerous challenge. They were doing it all game but the ref did fuck all surprise surprise Three times at least before that event the two up top for WBA either got under the player to roll them or fouled in mid air. These are rightly sending off events in rugby because of the danger during the fall. The ref missed prior opportunities to stop this and is in my view responsible for what followed. Referee's would be so much better equiped if they had played the game at some level and understood the "dark arts".

Sentinel: A couple of those instances when Stoke players were fouled while jumping. In rugby that's an automatic red because it's dangerous taking away control from how someone lands...

Exactly, rugby is often held up as an example of playing hard and not rolling around claiming injury but they recognise that playing a man while in the air is extremely dangerous and an absolute no no. It was only by luck that Hoever wasn't injured before the Wilmot incident. I haven't seen a replay yet but in real time it looked like he pulled Wilmots shirt as he was in the air directly causing the heavy fall and injury. The ref didn't even speak to him!!

Hopefully it’s not a disc as that’s a slippery slope… Hope he gets well soon

Impact injuries like that are generally spasms or fractures. I might be wrong, but I reckon he actually hurt it when he landed.
