With the withdrawal of troops and the seemingly easy take over of the Taliban with little or no willingness for the Afgans to change what on earth was the point and for goodness sake let's stay the hell out of there.

Nobody has won a war there since Alexander the Great total clusterfuck.
Lest we forget some poor souls interpreters, police and other civilians who will have been encouraged by the West to "do a job" will now be abandoned and left to be killed as collaborators by the Taliban. They will be in Kabul in a month.

Nobody has won a war there since Alexander the Great total clusterfuck. They will be in Kabul in a month. The loss of life on all sides for what was and is a fruitless "fight" is truly sad. There are calls in some places to intervene again I saw a chap from the UN on the news questioning exactly that. The answer should be a resounding no. |

Very very little.
After the Vietnam war was pumped into people's homes it's become the norm for wars to be kept off the TV screens.
I couldn't name a single battle in that war.

There was a section on John Oliver last night where one of the translators said the taliban keep calling him to say as soon as they get into Kabul him and his family are fucked. The was a US army guy on too pretty much on the verge of tears because he canβt get his team out. Worst of it is the problem with them getting visas arranged was flagged umpteen times over last ten years but the want or will to fix it hasnβt been there. |

I mentioned to his mate that I wanted to visit Cuba and he said it should've been nuked out of existence in the 60s when they had the chance...he was actually studying politics at Uni in the States too!
