Think there was a fake tweet recently saying Verlinden was going to Shrewsbury - but their fanzine has this morning tweeted that it's "one to watch" (don't know if it's informed or guesswork - but it's possibly in his interest to go somewhere)

He’s got about 6/7 assists in the u23s so far this season. Of all of our wide players he possesses the biggest attacking threat by some distance. Key part of that post. ‘In the u23s’ It’s children’s football. The difference between that and the rough and tumble of the championship is like night and day.

It's almost like he needs to listen to his coaches and do what is asked of him. Bolton fans loved him. Keith Hill is a dinosaur manager. When he played he clearly did well. That is all that should matter. It absolutely isn't. It's a team sport, you can't fuck your team mates off and expect success.

That is all that should matter. The Bolton fans loved every player that season because they had no team left, most of their team where young loans or free agents. Verlinden was particularly loved because he actually scored a goal.

True-ish but have absolutely no doubt he's got what it takes. If he grows up and shows professionalism in training he'll get in the side and shine. As it is he'll end up like Ngoy playing for a minor club in a minor league. Wasted talent does my head in.

Key part of that post. ‘In the u23s’ Yes it’s showing he can do it. Unlike the players that are playing now. He can’t do anything more where it actually matters to show he should be in the side.

Okay, Verlinden is doing everything possible to get into the first team, he shines above all his teammates at U23s, he’s making Premier League U23s opposition players look like fools and during training with the first team squad his stats and willingness to learn puts him apart from the rest. So why his he not being selected ? Because it’s just not O’Neil who’s decided not to select him, WHY ? If he’s such a predacious talent and is ripping Premier League U23s teams apart why hasn’t a opposing Premier League team made a offer for him or even one of the European big boys ? After all that’s one of their favourite past times, scouring English teams for talent and at a bargain price, look at Birmingham. him, why ?

If he’s not safe haven’t the club informed the relevant authorities ? After all he’s a valuable talent. Or do you mean he’s not safe to have around his teammates ? I’m sure that the club are doing their upmost to protect players and staff from infection.

He may be a dinosaur but he’s saying exactly what O’Neil is seeing, verlinden can tie a defender in knots, but you only have to do it once so why do it two or three times ? He has a tendency to play with his head down concentrating on his next party piece instead of having his head up and picking out the earliest and simplistic pass. I'm not knocking the lad but you wouldn't want him covering the left back position, not that he should need to, but the way we have set up the last games would not work. Bottom line MON has not had enough trust in him to do the job he is asking McClean to do. If Fox was not injured things might be different. Simple way round that. Put him on the right in a 4231 with Collins behind him.

He’s doing it in a makey uppy nothing competition where there’s zero pressure. Do you really think MON wouldn’t be giving him game time if A) he thought he was up to standards and B) had demonstrated the right attitude in training and around the place??

There's enough body of evidence to show it. Hard working and disciplined. And no I don't think you need either to play on the wing, indeed it's right down on the list of what I want to watch from wingers in my team

I'm sure that would end well.

He definitely did. I think Campbell improved tremendously from the Shrewsbury loan tbh with the strength and fitness side. The Campbell I see now is the one that was in the youth team but the only difference is that he will now use his right foot.

No we didn't. The relegation from the PL was all about bad tactics and not getting the best from good technical players. Why does ability scare Stoke fans?
