Have we got anyone in the U23 squad that could do a job ? Not yet, not as goalscorers anyway. Doesn’t need to be a goalscorer just a wide player. The obvious answer is Verlinden and it’s absolutely fucking bonkers that we haven’t seen him there.

FFP experts, can we fit in a signing for a few million this window? Can't see QPR turning down a couple of million for a player out of contract this summer To sign him for a couple of million on a £25k a week wage over 3/4 years we'd have to shift Tom Ince and A.N.Other to offset......

This seemed reasonably positive but obviously won't be able to give it the big 'un. Maybe a cash signing will be possible though, if someone like Pickering at LB would be sub-£1m and on low wages? www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-january-transfer-window-4843248O’Neill said: “ We’ve got a little bit of room to manoeuvre but I think people know the situation we have at the club in terms of Financial Fair Play and the rules of that which we have to abide by. “Where we are at this minute in time is that we probably have to generate money out of the squad, which means players leaving the club. “We’ve done that in the previous two windows with more players leaving than coming in. This window, while it might not be as stringent as the previous two, we’ll have to look at our options and left-back certainly becomes a priority now and we need something dynamic at the top end of the pitch as well.”

How can this window 'not be as stringent' as the other 2.

Verlinden can score too. Up until December last year Verlinden was the better of the two by some way. Campbell overtook him because he was given a chance. Verlinden now needs that chance.

We need to be playing a back 4 if we are going to give Verlinden a run, from the little I have seen of him I wouldn't fancy him at wing back.

As a manager do you reward laziness? He's superb, would make a real difference but can we can go down the road of backing lazy petulant players? Isn't that, in part, what got us here?

He’s not lazy though. Not in matches no He is in training apparently and that's for years now. Very frustrating He should be in the team showing what he can do, instead he doesn't listen. When the people at Bolton, a club at its lowest ebb in its entire history, don't want you back re attitude it's a massive problem. Modern footballer syndrome.

I keep hearing we need a wide player we need a wide player What we need is someone who might score one in three chances An out and out striker with pace You could of put crosses in all day in the last four matches and we probably wouldn’t of scored anymore

It was a group discussion whilst at the last U23 match, the man from Bolton (bit like the man from Delmonte but with a worse hat) was unequivocal in his assessment of Verlinden. Really depressing Bayern is correct in his assessment of Verlinden's ability however it's not acceptable to arse about.

Talk of Xavier Amaechi (Eng u20 right winger, formerly of Arsenal, now Hamburg) going to a Champ club on loan. Seems to be Swansea though? www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball/hsv-xavier-amaechi-vor-leihe-zu-swansea-city-74685436.bild.htmlwww.fussballtransfers.com/a3441619879794741536-hsv-amaechi-vor-england-leiheXavier Amaechi from Hamburger SV is expected to spend the second half of the season at a club in England. According to the 'Hamburger Morgenpost', the second division team is about to find a loan station for the 19-year-old Englishman. Accordingly, one is confident that a deal will be made before New Year's Eve and that the youngster will be given the much-needed playing time. Amaechi switched to the Red Pants in summer 2019 with great praise from the youth of Arsenal FC. HSV paid 2.5 million euros for the England U20 international. The transfer has not yet paid off for either side. This season, the left foot (contract until 2023) was used for just twelve minutes.
