Not a chance your lot will beat France. I wouldn't bank on it, they've been incredibly fortunate so far! Actually, as much as I enjoyed seeing England grind out their win, I think it's a pity that it's not going to be a grand slam decider, just to add a little extra spice to proceedings!

Would be the worst side to win a grand slam ever. France and Scotland are both better sides than Wales, imo.

Good, hard fought win for England in the end, I must say I wasn't expecting us to beat France today. Eddie needs to address the indiscipline and penalties against us as it is seriousl affecting our play. Wales look well set for the title now. Just looking at the table and Italy have a points difference of -142 after 4 games ! I think I heard the other week Italy had lost 30 consecutive 6 Nations games? And they've probably lost another 2 or 3 since then. Utterly pointless, surely having a Group B is the way forward? Romania always had relatively decent sides in the 90s, what happened to them? Yeah I think something has to change with the situation Italy are in. I've checked the world rankings and the top 20 plus best other European teams are 1 SOUTH AFRICA 94.20 2 NEW ZEALAND 88.95 3 FRANCE 86.42 4 ENGLAND 85.63 5 WALES 83.97 6 AUSTRALIA 83.08 7 IRELAND 82.55 8 SCOTLAND 81.29 9 ARGENTINA 80.31 10 JAPAN 79.29 11 FIJI 76.87 12 GEORGIA 72.49 13 TONGA 71.44 14 SAMOA 70.72 15 ITALY 70.65 16 USA 68.10 17 SPAIN 67.71 18 URUGUAY 67.02 19 ROMANIA 64.30 20 RUSSIA 63.14 21 PORTUGAL 61.94 25 NETHERLANDS 60.09 27 BELGIUM 57.17 28 SWITZERLAND 54.12 30 GERMANY 53.13 So it's a hell of a big gap (in ranking points) for any other country to potentially be promoted in place of Italy to be able to be competitive in the 6 Nations. Italy, or whichever other country replaced them, would effectively become a revolving door leaving the "big 5" countries still unaffected by the threat of relegation but hopefully it would gradually improve the level of the 2nd tier teams so they would be more competitive if promoted.

Not the Scots, although they're vastly improved. The French, yes. They'll have to be very unlucky/have the ref against them to get beaten at home by Wales. What the Welsh have in their favour is that the French often lose heart when a Grand Slam or title is out of reach, so who knows. Shame it's not a GS decider.

I think that's the idea. It'd also, hopefully, encourage development of the game in places like Spain, Portugal and Germany, although I'm not sure I really want the Germans to take Rugby any more seriously as they'd soon become pretty good at it! Your table shows that you could have Scotland, Georgia, Italy and Spain in a competitive second tier, with a third tier underneath that. Of course, a lot depends on these countries developing a decent domestic competition which is the problem even Italy faces, but if you want to seriously grow the game, it's probably the way to go.

Italy are part owners of the 6 nations for the next 5 years. But for rugby to really flourish on mainland Europe it needs the second division regardless of the risk of England having a really bad season

The game has changed massively since I started watching and playing in the 50s,
but I think that is the worst England performance over a season I can remember. Incompetance, lack of urgency or drive, poor defending, etc. We regularly get beaten by Wales and quite often by Wales, very rarely by Scotland, but to get beaten by all three when England can choose from more players than the rest combined is almost unheard of.
We only narrowly beat France because France had an off day.
At least it is a wake up call for the next WC and there is time to change the players and get them playing together. Like Stoke there are too many players living on past reputations and the lack of game time due to the pandemic has found them out.

Very poor and extremely disappointing 6 Nations by England. As has been said on here, there has been repeated errors, indiscipline, incompetence, poor defence, and many players who just haven't performed for a variety of reasons. IMO Eddie has previously deflected questions about these poor performances by saying it's not all about winning every game but we must learn from the defeats as part of the preparation for the World Cup in 2023. Well judging by this 6 Nations we haven't learned much at all.
Maybe it's time for a new direction as Eddie seems to be floundering somewhat.

Good refereeing that. The try wales had not given was probably more of a try than the one given. All down to what referrer saw in the immediate and what the TMO could prove or not prove.

Now if Eddie can book the next available Qantas that will be great.

Butler is one of the most biast commentators going how he gets away with his slant year after year I’ll never know. I bet Brian Moore was laughing his boots off. i’m off to watch the last 5 mins on catchup. Twice.
