Reckon the tournament will be wide open this year as home advantage is usually massive but without a crowd it might work more the other way. If France click they might romp it. Hopefully Scotland can put a decent tournament together because Hogg and Russell are absolute quality on form. not sure about France they were impressive against Italy but christ Italy were poor all over the park. Their U20s that won the world cup twice on the bounce are coming through and they're meant be frightening! Might be too soon though although a lack of crowd might help.

I'm not convinced who's going to win this Six nations England were terrible today, I thought they would power through and win it again but Eddie has his work cut out.

Eddie is the Mourinho of Rugby. Plays a turgid style and has his "favourites" in the side no matter what. Billy Vunipola for example is living off the reputation he had in 2018, he's been totally ineffective for a while now. At the same time, Sam Simmonds is tearing it up for Exeter and he can't get in the squad. There are more examples but I cba right now.

Love how close a competition it is and just chuffed us v Italy isn't the annual wooden spoon decided it was for yonks. France odds at 11/10 seem too short for how erratic they are. Value in England at 4/1 though as that might be a rocket up their arse and with a bit more fitness in the legs v Italy they could beat the other three. Might all come down to bonus points.

England team v France on Sunday. By all accounts the French are supposed to have an understrength team for the game. 15. Elliot Daly (Saracens, 46 caps) 14. Anthony Watson (Bath Rugby, 45 caps) 13. Henry Slade (Exeter Chiefs, 33 caps) 12. Owen Farrell (C) (Saracens, 87 caps) 11. Jonny May (Gloucester Rugby, 60 caps) 10. George Ford (Leicester Tigers, 71 caps) 9. Ben Youngs (Leicester Tigers, 103 caps) 1. Mako Vunipola (Saracens, 63 caps) 2. Jamie George (Saracens, 53 caps) 3. Kyle Sinckler (Bristol Bears, 39 caps) 4. Maro Itoje (Saracens, 42 caps) 5. Joe Launchbury (Wasps, 68 caps) 6. Tom Curry (Sale Sharks, 27 caps) 7. Sam Underhill (Bath Rugby, 21 caps) 8. Billy Vunipola (Saracens, 55 caps) FINISHERS 16. Luke Cowan-Dickie (Exeter Chiefs, 25 caps) 17. Ellis Genge (Leicester Tigers, 22 caps) 18. Will Stuart (Bath Rugby, 7 caps) 19. Jonny Hill (Exeter Chiefs, 3 caps) 20. Ben Earl (Bristol Bears, 7 caps) 21. Dan Robson (Wasps, 6 caps) 22. Max Malins (Bristol Bears, 2 caps) 23. I recorded the England v Scotland game to watch after our game.
I wish I had recorded our game to watch again instead.
At least I can understand why we play slow, turgid football, because of the players we have.
Eddie Jones has no such excuse.
I don't think I will bother wasting my electricity next week.

I think General Faye hit the nail on the head with the Jones/Mourinho comparison. England have been awful to watch since they demolished NZ in the semi, and with the players they have they shouldn't be playing defensive rugby.
At least when we declined after 2003 we had retirements and winning the top prize as an excuse.

England usually know how to use the kicking game but with the Scotland backs taking and returning the high ones & especially Hogg's return kicks we got nothing until the very end, and we looked bang out of ideas. Similar vs france in the nations cup.
Well played Scotland though.

I absolutely hate it when Eddie shoe horns a second row into the back row, Jack Willis deserves to play but I'm not surprised by it unfortunately. Mako and Sinkler back is crucial though.

The Saracens boys need to look interested this time (as do they all). I don't think I've ever seen Itoje give away so many penalties or infringements and Big Billy looked knackered from the start.
Eddie loves his cycles though - he may have already written this 6 nations off as a testing ground so that he can get his run up going again for the next World Cup. He is a serial winner though as well - not suggesting he's throwing games but wanting to try things out.

Well, best team won in the end.
England’s ill disciple is killing them - did them at the start of the game, giving away soft ones and killing any pressure. Then in the 2nd half, having done well to get level & arguably being the better team, gifted Wales points.
Ref was more than happy to penalise and we carried on getting sucked in.

Those interviews with the captains were poor. What do they expect AW Jones to say, “yeah the ref was wrong and we were lucky”. Rugby’s code is all about respect for the ref - decision made, get on with it.

Rugby’s code is all about respect for the ref - decision made, get on with it. Quite agree. Far too much was made of the referee's influence, almost to the point of excusing an England defeat and to minimise the Welsh win. Not right. Martin Johnson called it right - you need leaders on the pitch and, just as importantly, smart coaches, to tell the other players to adapt to how the game is being reffed. Same with football, drives me nuts when players give a picky ref the perfect opportunity to send them off! You could see he was a picky ref, so play accordingly!

I don’t get what’s happened with Itoje - he has given so many penalties away this year. Maybe refs are watching him more and he’s always on the edge (which is great when it comes off like the charge down).

The best team won today and as has been said numerous times already it's indiscipline that is costing England over and over again in this championship. Itoje looks to be on a mission to give away as many penalties as possible.

Jones is holding England back. I've seen England concede 40 to the Southern Hemisphere sides but today was a low.

Even when we were consistently winning our discipline has been notoriously poor under Jones but it's getting even worse. I've made my views clear about Eddie for a while now and I think it's getting to the point where he needs to be moved aside.

I've made my views clear about Eddie for a while now and I think it's getting to the point where he needs to be moved aside. The decline since the World Cup semi against NZ has been rapid- at least after 2003 we had a title win and retirements to factor in. What has gone wrong- and who should replace Jones? I don't follow the club game that closely so who are the candidates?
