Personally I’m glad he’s gone especially if it means we keep clucks and Allen but you have to say it starting to smell like a one of our speciality cock up windows I don't HAVE to say anything of the sort until the window shuts, but if it suits you to say it...........

Another one off the books. This clear out should have happened the moment we dropped down. For what it’s worth Mikel was crap, a long way past his heyday. With players under long contracts, you omit to say how the club could have a clearout until buyers emerge? Could have wrote them off when we had the money to do so instead of now when it could land us in the soup. Giving Rowett free reign of the Dong was a catastrophically idiotic thing to do as well.

Hughes is the first in the firing line when it comes appalling transfers, I would put Rowett at the top of the list every time. Hughes rightfully gets the biggest stick because he started it basically. He made the succession of poor signings that led to our relegation and ultimately created the problem we find ourselves in now and caused the situation that led to us making the mistake of appointing Rowett. If he hadn't signed wasters like Wimmer and Imbula we wouldn't have got relegated and appointing Rowett would never have happened. However if you simply compare like for like in terms of catastrophic signings, Rowett's record is worse and he sealed our fate and sentenced us to probably a long stint outside the top flight by blowing our one and only big shot at going straight back up. He got it catastrophically wrong and wasted all the advantages of parachute payments to the point where we may as well have never been in the Premier League now. Financially we're competing in the bottom half.

Might know a lot more than we do and sees the writing on the wall. Hopefully not. Maybe purely for money. Hopefully so.

I thought he was unfairly criticised last season and was one of our better players. However I do think another season would have been a season too far, so good business for all really.

There is a strong argument that he now has no experienced captain material in the dressing room. Careful who you suggest if I'm wrong 😎

Sorry, "trust him like a son". lol, I really don’t think MON is that sentimental. He clearly liked him a lot as a player because he got a lot of games even when he was poor. He won’t be dumb to the fact he’s a year closer to retirement now either.

I wish Mikel had been better managed here, i.e. subbed after 60 mins most games. He was usually very decent in the first 60 and then fell off soon after.
I feel that the loss of a player who has such pedigree takes a lot away from players like Sorenson et al, who could have learned a great deal from such experience.
