I’m gutted I’ll never get the chance to watch him pitch side for us. Is there a certain player in the history of Stoke City that you've not hated or slagged off? Lots. I don’t mind Mikel but he was average and no loss.

Mikel was very good on the ball but not a CDM, his defensive awareness was poor, he rarely tracked runners and his Ta Kline usually ended in a foul. I thought some of our best performances under MON were when Allen and Clucas played as a two behind Powell, Swansea and Charlton at home and Huddersfield and WBA away from memory. We were open but had much more threat going forward

This feels like one hell of a rebuild to me. It could take a while for everyone to gel again.
Hmmmmm.

Hmmmmm. yes, mad Nath made mistakes of trying to add too many players in one go, he bought in Hogan, Vokes, Batth, Smith, Duffy, Ward, Powell, Lindsay and Gregory and it left us lacking cohesion. Worried this could go the same way

If they’re good and they fit how you want to play it’s not an issue.

Didn't help with his bizarre formations either.

I liked Mikel. He didn't warrant the abuse he received/receives. Me too.No matter what some players do , a few on here have their agenda against them and stick to it. Or the few you talk about just think he’s shit That’s not abuse

He was 6/10 last season at the absolute best. I'd go for 5. He had awful games and had a period November to March where he just generally played badly. And either side of that he had some good games. But he was desperately average. The manager used way too much and that was the biggest issue for sure. But lets not rewrite history here. He was average at the absolute best and he shouldn't have been given a new deal anyway. Your being way too kind Personally I thought he was a big part of our problem.

This feels like one hell of a rebuild to me. It could take a while for everyone to gel again. Hmmmmm. I’d say that rather than a rebuild…. I think it’s a refresh!!! The start of something new, MoN managed to get a ramshackle field full of individual donkeys to actually gel, to also not allow us to get relegated and then get us all disappointed that we started slipping away from the playoffs….. Imagine what he could do with a clean slate?!?

He did us well at a time that we needed someone just like him, he ran out of steam towards the end, and another year with us would have been an odd cameo of the bench - I’m glad that he gets a final retirement send off in the sun after helping us in a time of need. Just need to hone in on a younger / hungrier replacement whilst we have no money to spend 😬

I just also like to give credit where it is due. So are you upset that we didn’t actually get relegated to L1 when he took over? You frustrated that last season we didn’t take the league by storm, win a cup final and start looking at the prem and Europe next season…..? Think you might need to get a bit realistic as to what and who we are and maybe lowers your champions league expectations…. 😉

Not convinced that's a smart move on our part It is if we got a fee for him, and to be honest I’d let him go for free anyway because I’ve never liked him at Stoke. Hopefully we’ve got a replacement lined up!

It's a not massive loss (if we get the right replacement), though it is nice to see a Stoke player who can spot a good pass, and he is just about the only player was able to do that last season.
He was our best midfielder by quite some distance.

Hopefully we’ve got a replacement lined up! If we've cleared his wage to make room for decent established player on a free fair do's. If we're bringing in the St Johnstone lad I'd prefer him to come in as one of two with a more experienced & established player to lessen his load

It would be interesting to know if he has truthfully gone with our blessing as MON seemed very keen on him staying so must be a blow?!
