All this negativity about mikel reminds me of the criticism glenn Whelan got towards the end of his time here. Look how we missed Whelan and how we struggled to replace his style of game amd character..lets hope the manager can find a good replacement quickly to replace mikel, as this dm role is critical in a team. Mikel was poor defensively.

Mikel is a decent player but like a lot of our CMs Allen, Clucas (last season), Thompson etc he doesnโt excell at any of the main qualities that make a difference - goals - creativity - ball winner The balance of our midfield has been all wrong over the last few seasons. Nowhere near enough goals and next to no creativity. Thank god we had Nick Powell last season or weโd have gone down.

Mikel was poor defensively. He played a couple of decent through balls but overall I wouldn't say he contributed much at the other end of the pitch, I'm sure he is a good egg but I don't think he will be missed.
MON rushing Mikel and Allen back from injury had a negative effect on the team, Cousins should never have been dropped and I'd rather we kept him instead of Mikel in the first place. Anyway, I'm sure we can find someone better for the wages Mikel will have been picking up even if it's just a short term option.

Itโs a fair point on cousins we will do well to sign better for nowt so they decision looks hasty now

For some reason I get Chelsea posts on facebook all the time, just happened to notice this one: Among the hundreds of comments from Chelsea fans: The shock absorber himself
He was a real Jericho Wall.
He will be there in the middle destroying all the game plan of the opponents to score.
he was playing under a very strict instructions to lock everything, everywhere.....
The king and driver of "Parking the bus"
Barcelona and Bayern Munich will understand betterWhat the bloody hell explains that? At Stoke he looked anything but a defensive mid, and not just because of age - I liked him a lot as a player but his strengths lay elsewhere - playing in tight spaces, picking a pass - it didn't look like he had those "destroyer" attributes in his toolkit at all. Yet Chelsea fans eulogise him for the exact thing he looked completely unsuited to with a crap 2nd division team. I find it very strange.

He was much older when he came to us and perhaps wanted to play differently than he did under Chelsea in an attempt to lengthen his career? It seems logical that not lunging into rough tackles constantly would do that for a career? Nigerian fans didnโt like what Mourinho did to Mikel, who was previously considered to be more of an attack minded midfielder.
