How is Jordan Henderson on the short list what the hell has he done to deserve it. And he'll probably win it or at least finish in the top 3 given the voting system. SPOTY has been ridiculous for a long time. It's great to see Ronnie O'Sullivan with a shot at last, but it'll be even more ridiculous if anyone but Lewis Hamilton wins it. Why, it says 'personality' and his is shite

Not sure if its a public vote, if it is then it's Rashford or Fury, and Lewis Hamilton nowhere, because people are sick of his whining attitude, and his protesting, and generally being a weapon. What exactly is Hamilton whining and whinging about ? And why does he pretend he is black , when he can't be because his mum his white and British .Ali G ( Sacha baron Cohen) has already done that gag , and with a lot more humour than Hamilton. His dad ( an information technology manager ) bought him his first racing go kart at 6 ,and he had his own go kart racing team at 8 years old . What he is , is someone privileged , who has won a lot of races for a massive racing team ( mercedes ) . He is quick , genuinely quick , but when placed in the same racing team as Jenson button for two seasons ( I think ?) Was actually out pointed by Button ( also quick and won the F1 title for Braun , a much smaller team than mercedes ). Tbf , he did raise laugh , when he claimed if he hadn't been a F1 driver , he may have been a professional footballer , because he played in the same school team as Ashley Young . Why does the fact Hamilton’s mum is British mean Hamilton cannot be black?

You may not agree with what Hamilton says (I often don’t and find him a contradiction as others have pointed out about tax) but he certainly has personality. Much more so than the vast majority of sportsmen and women.

I've said it many times before (on the general discussion board) but I cannot understand the hatred towards Lewis Hamilton.
I've just come to the conclusion you're all jealous.

How is Jordan Henderson on the short list what the hell has he done to deserve it. Captained prem champions to 1st title in 30 years. Laa Is that it 🤔 then stick him in the team if the year hardly an individual accomplishment of sporting greatness.

Can't they rename it Sports Person of the Year? That would stop the dull as fuck debate about whether so and so has a personality. It's about sporting achievement, not whether someone supports a cause or is funny in press conferences.

Don’t worry, the word personality will soon be banned when it’s deemed to be offensive to people who haven’t got one. Hamilton will be wearing #nopersonality all over his racing suit next season!

Always came across as a whiny bitch to me tbh but then again a lot of F1 drivers seemed to be like that tbf, one of the reasons I stopped watching it.

Do you not think he has just a little bit of a Jesus complex? He has an enormous tattoo of a cross on his back and has the words “still I rise” printed on his helmet (no, not that helmet). He claims to be from the “ghetto” despite growing up in a house that sold for £900k. He disparages the achievements of other great drivers by claiming to be the “first working class world champion” which is utter nonsense. Firstly because he’s not working class, and secondly because there have been several genuine working class F1 champions including Michael Schumacher whose dad was a bricklayer and whose mum worked in a cafe. He regularly shares his poorly researched opinions and even harmful conspiracy theories on topics like vaccination to his massive social media audience. He wrote an absolutely dreadful poem about Princess Diana (seriously, Google it, it’s hilariously bad). No reason to dislike him other than jealously? Are you sure?

I mean I don’t hate him but I do find several contradictory things in his Points of view. As has been pointed out I don’t get how you can claim to care about the environment and be an F1 driver who until recently owned his own jet. His carbon footprint is probably bigger than everyone on here combined The tax avoidance stuff just pisses me off. It’s not illegal of course and he can live where he wants, but it’s morally repugnant. like he gets £40m a year from merc. Maybe if him and others like him paid tax we’d be able to invest in more environmental projects. I do have tremendous respect for what he does for the BLM movement. No argument there

I think as my previous post and posts have others have highlighted there are very legitimate reasons to hold that opinion and jealously doesn’t come into it.
