Perhaps if we the public opposed the ridiculous expenses allowances of MPs then we could feed the hungry children of this country instead of having an elite element who are happy to claim for paper clips and bog rolls. For the job they're meant to do I actually think MP's and certainly the PM are underpaid. *Dons tin hat and retreats*

One can argue that some (too many!) MPs don't do their job as well as they should. But those that do take the job seriously are not very well paid and get only modest expenses compared to their counterparts in most of the G20 countries.

All in the name of public service, and that's MPs on a basic of 80k a year. I do hope dominic Cummings has claimed for his petrol for his trip to Barnard castle

This govt does nothing to help itself, it reeks of billy bullshitters. What are his press aides doing and his advisers if he has only just heard of marcus rashford campaign until today. Why oh why can they not just come out and at least show a little weakness in the ranks by admitting what marcus has done has made us think differently. We have got it wrong and hope that now we can move forward, instead of this defensive line of bullshit that makes them look absolutely ridiculous and also like a bunch of liars

For the first time I can ever remember I agree with Bayern. Also why did Mrs Rashford have 5 children? Perhaps if she had two or three then she would have put food on the table? All that will happen now is the majority of parents will spend it on cigarettes gambling and booze which I notice was mentioned in parliament by some conservative MP yesterday.

Wouldn't say the majority but certainly on some fronts. I do agree with the not having kids you can't keep and wearing the 'single mother' badge.

I find that one of the most distasteful posts Ive read on this forum. Talk about casual racism and bigotry. You want to put quotas on the number of children that single mothers can have now? And whether they are allowed to buy cigarettes and alcohol? Nice ideology there.

So the mum who has 5 kids and the dad dies or is killed, should she not have had the kids because she wouldnt be able to cope on her own.if she was so happy being a single mum then she would not have been in a position to keep having kids right. Many people seem happy in a relationship and having children is a natural element of that relationship, what happens if the dad just gets up and fucks off ! As for chastising someone for buying fags and booze, you do make a sweeping generalisation that most will go out and do this. Have you ever thought that having a fag and a drink is that persons way of coping and stops them.getti g to a point where they give up and put children into care. You cannot generalise without knowing the circumstances.of how that family runs behind closed doors. At £2.30 a day school meals are too expensive, nearly 50 quid a month for just one child is too much. There are an awful lot of people who struggle to pay for school meals especially if you have more than one child aswell.

Some of those single mothers spending money ,that's meant for their kids , on cigarettes ,gambling and alcohol is a fair point . Unfortunately anyone who says anything these days that doesn't conform to the liberal left point of view is called all sorts , to try to stifle conversation .

Of course there have always been some Andy, or Andrea, Capp type lazy scrounger parents but having grown up on a large council estate my experience is the majority of poorer families are just as honest and hardworking as any other sector of society.

He mentioned Mrs Rashford who happens to be black. He didnt need to include that in his quote because it was quite clearly implied that black single mothers have a lot of children. Trying to defend that intolerant post is just pathetic. The thread is a celebration of what Marcus Rashford has just achieved, until it gets hi-jacked by the far right idiots that think its fair game to bitch about people in society less fortunate than them. Being poor isnt a choice you know.

He’s been renamed this morning as Daniel Yesterday ian boulton on sky called him marcus Radford and openly admitted he had not got a clue who he was and what he did. Think as a presenter even I would research a little before air time. Matt Hancock after calling out prem league footballers should hang his head

There is always an element that will draw the focus. There are many folks out there on minimum wage having to work 2 jobs to make ends meet. At the end of the furlough scheme unemployment will rocket to levels we will have never seen before, this will not just be those on the lower end of the salary scale. Many will be facing decisions within their family dimension that will not provide for all.

This is true It's also why the government kept talking about timing , when everyone was saying the lockdown needed to come sooner America has 43 million unemployment now The whole furlough scheme is just a big dodge to try and avoid to that . It's not going to totally work, it might sort of half work, which is better than nothing. Next step is getting as many as possible back to work asap

I have a lot more time for Marcus rashford than I have for Tyrone Ming's .
Tyrone Ming's was on the back of the paper yesterday or the day before saying Harry Kane should say this and Harry Kane should say that. That's really poor.
Marcus rashford has done things the right way .He has said what he wants to say .Done what he wants to do. Respect .

AND they don't get the same opportunities to hide their 'dishonesties' compared to people in power, which are on a larger scale and take more resources out of our society. we live in a system riddled with large scale corruption (much of it legalised) and it ain't people on council estates who are benefitting from it. These are horrible value judgements as well as misinformed.

Ok, I've used this twice already on both fb and twitter but here we go.
One more time for the slow kids at the back, YOU CANT SPEND FOOD VOUCHERS ON CIGARETTES OR ALCOHOL. Take your lazy stereotyping and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
I for one applaud Marcus. We could do with a few more players like him that can be seen as proper role models.

For the job they're meant to do I actually think MP's and certainly the PM are underpaid. *Dons tin hat and retreats* They do have the ability to affect the market though and know where to invest because they are the decision makers. I'm sure they make plenty of money on the side especially the ones in power and on the front bench. It's not difficult for a few hundred thousand to be shifted into an account for doing a conference is it as a way of being paid their slice.
