Chance to show how cool or uncool you are by sharing your last live music experience.
Last Friday in my case, I took a punt on a Canadian band I'd heard about off a friend. It was at a venue in Manchester called 'Pink' and yes it was very pink as it happens. Only around 60 folk there and despite being spoilt a tad by a baseball capped sound engineer with a penchant for overdriven sub woofers, the band were brilliant and I'd deffo go and see them again.

Sure it wasn't the Pink room at 'YES'? Last one for me was Shame at the Ritz, next one is Chic at the Arena on Saturday.

Great venue. The lads who run it and a big portion of the gigs round Manchester (NOW WAVE) know what they're doing.

Black Stone Cherry, Cadillac 3 and Monster Truck all for £20 at Manchester Arena on Monday night. Absolute bargain. Tickets for Monster Truck's own tour in 2019 go on sale on Friday and I'll definitely be purchasing them. I recorded the clip below for a friend in Spokane. The great thing about our location is we get the opportunity to see bands that others in their country have to make a 5 hour each way journey to see. Can't beat live music. Again I'd implore people to use places like Eleven in Sandyford, I've got tickets for John Corabi in February - the only other UK shows on his tour are in Edinburgh and London so it's quite a coup to get him to Stoke. Additionally it's a great venue and I'll guarantee that if you try it once you'll be looking to get back there sooner rather than later. Hopefully it'll force the local lazy dives to up their game. www.elevenmusicvenue.co.ukLeek also has a little venue at Foxlowe Arts Centre which gets a few decent acts. Tempted by Kris Barras band also in February. www.foxloweartscentre.org.ukPeople need to use these places to keep them going and word of mouth is the best recommendation. It's great to have these venues locally and only have to make a short journey to enjoy quality performers. The only way we'll attract other acts is by selling them out so spread the word.

I agree. Eleven is a great little venue. Now that the Viccy Hall has priced itself out as a regular stop for touring bands and the legendary Limelight has closed we need to support venues like Eleven all the more.

Should have been the FOS Brothers but I was too busy with work to go. Ditto for missing Mogwai, Big Country/Kirk Brandon, Tunng & Mono.
I went to Rob Newman, although I suppose that doesn't count even if he did play a ukulele to close his set. Last music gig must have been The Dickies. Jeez, that was months ago. I use to go to 4 or 5 gigs a week.

Saw Lauryn Hill couple of weeks back. 20 year anniversary tour of "The Miseducation of...." so had to go for pure nostalgia. It was shit. Shouted everything, awful audio and you couldn't even make out what half of the songs were until about halfway through. Having said that, even 20 years on i'd still happily kill her softly with my dong. 0/10 for the concert 7/10 for the wank bank

Last gig was A Certain Ratio at Gorilla. Should've been the cancelled Gladstone Wedding Present do. Might do the Sugarmill for Average Joe, but equally drawn to The Rigger for Department S 'Is Vic There?' Probably end up doing neither. Lots of live stuff to go at over Xmas.
