Yes, planning on having a night at the ruin bars. Singapore was just too damn humid that’s all, I couldn’t enjoy it. Was only there for two days. It was just a bit of a stop off en route to Bali. I’m sure it’s a fantastic place but I couldn’t enjoy it due to the conditions My Mrs wants to go that's all, she knows it's going to be hot and humid and would have no energy until back under the air conditioning Was in Singapore for quite a few months. Humidity doesn't touch Jakarta/Bangkok etc for me which are also massively polluted, busy cities. Singapore is the cleanest place you'll visit. Is a lovely place to go. I found Arizona etc far more difficult

Just back this week from 4 nights in Prague.
What a beautiful City. Also visited Pilsner for the Brewery tour as it was only 1 hour on the train.
Trams fantastic so easy to get around as to metro.
Beautiful Food as well as buildings and bridges.
At between 1.50 to 2.50 a pint it a few beers were enjoyed.

Just got back from Frankfurt. The area around the main train station has always been somewhat “edgy” but my god this time I couldn’t walk ten yards without being asked if I wanted some sort of drug. People shooting up in the street in broad day light, being stared at by gangs and generally feeling extremely uncomfortable. I even witnessed an altercation in a newsagent’s where a crackhead spat in the shop keepers face then got coshed around the head by the shopkeeper. Been a few times and there are nice parts of course but I wouldn’t go down there again!

Did get chatting to a mate of of Philip Wollscheid in a pub though so that's a bonus lol Off to Bordeaux next month.

You're right it is a fantastic place. Christmas markets were on at the time which made for an even better experience. Just booked up for three days in Bruges over the Christmas period which is another beautiful place. Was there a few years back when me and some mates did the WW1 battlefields tour during the centenary year. Great beer! 👍 😋

With reference to the very start of this thread, which I noticed today for the first time.
I too visited Cortona earlier this year, wonderful town in a wonderful region of Italy which I would recommend to anyone. Just a shame you can't get a flight to Perugia from somewhere closer than Stansted.

Got a lot of love for Moscow, Mumbai, Cape Town, Seoul, Athens, Paris, Kathmandu, Napoli, Fort De France, Accra, Christchurch (NZ)... Oh and good old Lichfield, Staffordshire. London is a total dump in comparison. Love the odd trip to the city for business but it's mostly a total dive. London is a dump compared to Mumbai? Ok then.

Most Central Station areas around European Cities are "Edgy" This area of Frankfurt has always been a shithole when "Adult Entertainment" Venues sprung up in the 70s/80s to cater to the US GIs stationed there The Old Sachsenhausen District is a very nice quaint place to visit with lots of interesting Riverside Museums, featuring Art, Architecture, and Jewish History etc There are lots of Bars, Clubs, Restaurants etc and locals and visitors are an eclectic bunch

Has anyone been to Ottowa? One our daughters is about to move there for a few years (with work) and I'm seeing mixed reports about the place.
Some say it's fun, interesting, even exciting at times, safe, yet others report that it's quite boring and soulless due to all the government and civil service offices there.
Any one any experience?

Good Accomodation. Good food and just as important the beer was cheap. Pilsner Urquell Brewery tour was brilliant it's a cracking drink that.

I love both Lisbon and Porto. I have also heard very good reports of Budapest. I was there in 1964 when it was still under communist rule and bullet scars were still on the walls of buildings from an earlier uprising. Vienna has been voted number 1 city in the world to live. Outside Europe, I loved Rio de Janeiro (but not a safe place at night) and also Buenos Aires. I also liked San Francisco. Krakow is also a good destination for a short break and not expensive. I'm doing Porto next week, I haven't been since 1983 which I don't remember too much about, there was a lot of drinking involved and in taxis and a police escort back after we drank to two lost colleagues taken by riptdies whilst at the beach, 5 of ours and a few other people were saved by rescue boats. On her first cruise to Oporto, Portugal and then Gibraltar the destroyer lost two sailors to a drowning incident while on shore leave visiting a beach in Oporto.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Nottingham_(D91)

Pokhara in Nepal is unbelievable - usually the mist clings to the mountains and it took a while for me to actually see this background but fuck me when I did it is genuinely jaw dropping. Would retire there in a heartbeat
