Yep agreed, but he was right about one thing, Barkley doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the box!

I don't understand why the Sun have published that article, it's like they are saying 'fuck you merseyside'. A real example of the North/South divide. A monumental own goal from the Sun this.

I don't understand how any journalist can get the sack for a published item that will have been read and reviewed several times. The responsibility rests with the editorial management.
I do realise this is somewhat ironic given that he was the editor at the time of the filth printed about Hillsborough.

Rebecca Brooks has been looking for the way to get rid of him for a while. This is her chance. He's a twat. When you think he's possibly the biggest twat at that firm, it's really saying something.

I think the Sun made their feelings about Merseyside known back in 1989.

Jesus wept! I can't abide the bloke but that is just fucking petty, he's just another victim of pathetic little snowflakes who see racism (and every other type of 'ism') every-fucking-where these days. People refer to Gareth Bale and the twat Keown as 'simian' and 'ape faced cunts' all the time, and if you go back far enough they both have relatives from Africa. So is that a no-no now too?

I hadn't actually considered the racist aspect. I was more sickened by choosing to launch an attack on the people of Merseyside at this time. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Absolute bullshit Let's get the rspca in any self respecting gorilla will be appalled and feel totally slurred at being described as a scouser It is well known that gorillas are honest intelligent and have a sense of humour
This is a disgrace this noble beast ( really nice ) doesn't in any way exibit signs of paranoia Or continuous bouts of self pity and righteousness
GORILLAS HAVE RIGHTS

I wouldn't wipe my arse with the Sun but comparing Barkley to a Gorilla isn't racist.
Barkleys 'mixed race' background has nothing to do with it.
Most Gorillas I've met are decent & hard working irrespective of who their parents are.
I'm not racist some of my best friends are gorillas.
Some people are adding two and two together and making five because it suits their agenda.

The real focus of anger should be those figures in the background who own and run the institution that allows an idiot like MacKenzie to spout this stuff (he probably had no idea of the racist aspect but it was still viscous and contemptible) - the article didn't magically appear, it will have gone through several pairs of eyes who clearly deemed it inline with their general agenda. One of the most depressing thoughts you can have is to imagine the number of people who have their views shaped by the divisive bile that that newspaper publishes.

When the world ends people like them will somehow be involved.

I had no idea about Barkleys mixed heritage. I'm pretty sure Mckenzie didnt. Think the problem here is the drug dealer/prison reference, its been a long time coming really for him. As people have said....the editorial team need to be sacked for actually printing such shite.

As people have said....the editorial team need to be sacked for actually printing such shite. As it happens, I did know about his mixed race heritage - but I agree with you that MacKenzie probably didn't. Nor, I suspect did the Sun's editorial staff. Consistent research is not the strong point of either MacKenzie or the Sun. MacKenzie clearly has an "agenda" when it comes to the City of Liverpool and you'd think after the debacle of his " Hillsborough the Truth" article he would have learned his lesson. Obviously not. The Sun is, not for the first time, guilty of incredibly shoddy editorial standards. What is the point of having editorial oversight if not to stop this sort of article getting into print?

I see no racism here, I just see appealing bad taste. What I don't understand, is why has Ross been singled out for such an attack on his character?

The racism if it exists is most likely accidental. What is beyond doubt is MacKenzie's right wing vindictiveness and hatred of the working class. He is a filthy old cunt jealous of young lad made good and The Sun is proving that their Hillsbrough apology is still stuck in its teeth.
MacKenzie, The Sun and Murdoch are sickly stains on this country and I wish them all ill.

Murdoch suspended him didn't sack him. How did the nasty crap get printed anyway?
And before anyone sees it as a way of reinforcing their own prejudices about people from Merseyside bear in mind they would declare the same campaign against Potteries people if they had to.

They have reduced journalistic standards to the level of the filthiest sewer.
