What on earth is Wrighty trying to say here? He is taking the piss out of Stan. Does Wright still have a column in The S*n? He'd have to "use" a ghost writer

Mackenzie is a vile turd who should be flushed away and not given a platform for his hatred along with Katie Hopkins I wish they were posted to North Korea and that's being kind

I see no racism here, I just see appealing bad taste. What I don't understand, is why has Ross been singled out for such an attack on his character? Easy target mate. He got attacked in Liverpool town centre on Sunday and MacKenzie decided to slag him off. To be fair Joe, i've got quite a few everton mates who have been saying for months (i.e. waaaaay before the attack in the bar) that although he seems to have got some consistency to his game nowadays, he still needs to sort out his "social life" as it's apparently well known that he mixes with some dodgy circles. The subsequent tweets AFTER the attack ("You know what you did Ross...you had it coming" etc etc) seem to indicate this wasn't just a celebrity being picked on. Apparently it all goes back to a feud he started with some local gangster over one of his girlfriends. Indeed, even Koeman alluded to Ross sorting out his social circle when he addressed the matter the other day. Not disputing that McKenzie's a twat at all, merely that Barkly needs to realise that if he hangs around with dodgy bastards then things like this will happen but will be noticed and exploited far more because of his fame.

He seems like a right twat tbh. He'd do well to move abroad or to London from the sound of that. Away from those people and then maybe he can fulfil his full potential.

Mackenzie's attack on the people of Merseyside was despicable. Barko having some dodgy mates is one thing but to tarnish an entire city knowing what happened at this time 28 years ago...and that he exacerbated the agony... is inexcusable. As for The S*n. They proof read it and published it. They suspended the leathery old ballbag but didn't sack him.

Hillsborough references are because 28 years ago Mackenzie chose to pedal lies on the frontpage that gave credence to the biggest cover up in British history. At no point as he explained why he ecided to overrule the reporter and write the frontpage headline himself. He chose to launch another attack on the people of Merseyside on the day before the anniversary.

They proof read it and published it. They suspended the leathery old ballbag but didn't sack him. Completely agree Joe (hence me saying i never disputed McKenzie was a twat). Was just trying to give some context about Barkley (admittedly anecdotal from people who live in Liverpool but seems to be fairly common knowldge and certainly not news to them) as it doesn't appear the bloke that smacked him did it simply due to his celebrity status. Apparently a few of his childhood mates are involved in gangs which puts Barkley in a no win situation with the media (particularly The Sun who will take any excuse to continue their petty, childlike hatred of the area), as if Barkley drops them then he'll be pilloried for "forgetting his roots", but if he continues to hang around with them then there's always a chance of him being dragged into unseemly situations.

Hillsborough was a tragedy for all football supporters. Sadly, the police cover up and scandalous tabloid lies led to many people, including football fans, just reinforcing their own prejudices about people from Merseyside. Mackenzie led that with his bullshit.

I think the point is staffs, is that every other reporter HAD already covered the story when it happened and it's now an "old" news story that should have died amd gone. Do you not find it a bit strange that 1 newspaper (and 1 reporter in particular) decided to drag it up for a re-run given the timing? For what it's worth...i think any reporter making generalisations about the whole area and referring to them all as drug dealers WOULD have generated an equally negative reaction whether Hillsborough had happened or not. Over reaction? Nah mate, simply people who are used to that newspaper and that reporter and are able to see a clear agenda on their part by dragging up old news at a convenient time.

Other than to say the reason some people still think that (despite mountains of evidence demonstrating otherwise) is partly because of Mackenzie and the lies he plastered on his front page.

I wouldn't wipe my arse with the Sun but comparing Barkley to a Gorilla isn't racist. Barkleys 'mixed race' background has nothing to do with it. Most Gorillas I've met are decent & hard working irrespective of who their parents are. Some people are adding two and two together and making five because it suits their agenda. Some people are adding two and two together and not getting 5; but something like "bunny rabbit" as an answer. It's also the bias shown towards certain groups of society - where is the voice for all the gorillas that are deeply offended by being compared to Ross Barkley? We have huge public movements for so many - even women and black people - so why not gorillas?
