he didnt play weekend and wasnt even named on subs bench yet southgate was pratically bummin him at en of lasts eason because of his great display for them. There was something on here weeks ago saying that he hadnt played any pre season games is he injured as you'd think southgate would learn from his mistakes. maybe tone should get a bid in for him

An U18 academy team has gone out to austin for 8 days this week and will play some friendlies out there this will be the first visit for us as a team out there and should mean that the first team follow next summer.
Stoke City FC Academy Friendlies Set Town & Country Sports Complex to host games The Austin Aztex affiliate, Stoke City FC, which is set to play in the Barclay’s Premier League in the UK, is sending its U18 Academy for eight days of training in Austin prior to the start of the academy season. The Lonestar Soccer Club will be hosting the Stoke City Academy and several “friendlies” have been announced which should be of some interest to Aztex fans.
Stoke U18 Academy Texas Schedule Thursday, August 14 vs Lonestar ’91 Red at 6:30 PM Saturday, August 16 vs Rayados 92/93 at 10:00 AM Sunday, August 17 vs Lonestars ’92 Red at 12:00 PM all games to be played on fields 26 & 27 of the Town & Country Sports ComplexThe first game will take place on Thursday, August 14 at 6:30 PM when Stoke City will play the Lonestar ’91 Red. This team, along with the Lonestar ’93 Red, has been selected to play in US Soccer’s Development Academy, which is intended to bring an intensive program of training and competition to the US’ leading youth clubs and players.
The second friendly will occur on Saturday, August 16 at 10:00 AM when the “Potters”, Stoke City’s affectionate nickname, will play Rayados 92/93 from Monterrey, Mexico. Rayados has some familiarity with Austin youth soccer, having been visited by the St. Stephen’s Soccer Academy (whose coach, Bobby Murphy, was the Aztex assistant this season) last spring.
The final friendly will be played on Sunday, August 17 at 12:00 PM when Stoke will face the Lonestar ’92 Red team. This group, often acknowledged as one of the strongest boys’ teams in the Lonestar program, is currently coached by Sean Bubb who supervises the entire boys program at the club.
In addition to Stoke City and Rayados, teams from the Andromeda Soccer Club of Plano will also be participating in this weekend of friendlies with the Lonestars. Andromeda had two boys’ teams that won National Championships last week, ’90 and ’91 boys. The latter team will be in Austin for one game: they will play the Lonestar ’92 Red South team on Sunday, August 17 at 12:00 PM on a field adjoining the Stoke City — ’92 Red contest.
These friendlies will be held on fields 26 & 27 of the Town & Country Sports Complex.
By the way theres still no club merchandise shop i really fancied getting a Austin home top

maybe when they have come into the country from another country they may of had a problem achieving 1 but as far as im aware you dont need to apply for a new 1 if you only going out on loan

Phillips move on brink of collapse Reporter: Michael Yarwood Date online: 12/08/2008
ATHLETIC’S move for Stoke City winger Demar Phillips is on the brink of falling through.
Despite lengthy negotiations, the clubs have still failed to agree financial terms for Phillips to join on loan.
The Jamaican international (pictured above) has been at Boundary Park for almost a month and played in four of Athletic’s pre-season friendlies.
Manager John Sheridan remains keen to bring him in, but Athletic are reluctant to stretch their budget too far after making a host of signings during the close-season.
The chances of a deal being struck appear to be dwindling, although Sheridan could provide some leeway by sending a handful of fringe players out on loan.
Athletic are also trying to offload midfield man JP Kalala before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
Sheridan, meanwhile, has warned his side to expect a tough battle in tonight’s Carling Cup first-round clash with Rochdale.
The two local rivals haven’t met in competitive action since 1974, but Rochdale came within one game of promotion last season when they lost to Stockport in the League Two play-off final.
They also have a reputation for fluent attacking football and a squad featuring two former Athletic youngsters in Kallum Higginbotham and Marcus Holness.
Sheridan said: “Rochdale pass the ball well, have players who can score goals and won a lot of home games last season.
“This is a difficult game, but I’m sure there will be a great atmosphere with so many of our fans in the ground.
“I want to have a good run in the Carling Cup because it’s an important competition. There’s no way I’m taking it lightly.
“It’s important to get through the early rounds and hope for a glamour tie further on, so we are definitely going there to win.”
As seven substitutes are allowed, Sheridan is likely to add Deane Smalley and Dale Stephens to the 16-man squad he named against Millwall on Saturday.
The tie is strictly all-ticket and these are available from Boundary Park until 4.30pm. Athletic will have a following of up to 3,000.
ATHLETIC (from): Crossley, Eardley, Hazell, Gregan, Lomax, Liddell, Allott, Maher, Taylor, Davies, O’Grady, Stam, Whitaker, Hughes, Alessandra, Smalley, Stephens, Fleming.
ROCHDALE (from): Russell, Ramsden, Stanton, McArdle, Kennedy, Wiseman, Jones, Keltie, Rundle, Le Fondre, Dagnall, Higginbotham, Thorpe, Spencer, Toner, Holness, Buckley, Lambert.
looks like we may have an extra option on our bench

But scholes was actually on the radio and said the words himself, "this is not a signing we will be making" . You're in denial I'm not in denial i know the deal aint happening at the mo. I just find it strange that with all the media around today the only people who have currently got the deal as being off is radio stoke how come no other media source has found out? I suppsoe in the morning it will be all over the papers

With him missing his court date and the premier league now keeping a close eye on all developments what would happen to man city if say Shinwatra has an arrest warrant issued against him and then he is extradited back to thailand and jailed or the league use the fit and proper persons test. Would they go straight into Administration? Would the league not allow City to have any of the premier league shares therefore not allowing them to compete? Who would own them? and what does the test mean? and what would he be tested on?

It is strange that only radio stoke have said the deal is dead and its only them who have a soundbite of scholes saying its dead i know im clutching at straws here but maybe they have mislead us about this as they may of recorded that interview before today. Then with them saying we are looking elsewhere and us not believing them they have thought 'oh we best find something what will prove we're right to keep our credibility up' as in that soundbite you never here Scholes mention Zigic's name. That could of been done ages ago. You'd also think that Pulis would of been the first person to know that the deal wasnt happening yet he went on tv after radio stoke announced it and didnt say it was dead. Plus why havent the sentinel put up a breaking news aritcle about us pulling out of the deal they would usually do that if they could confirm that we aint going to sign him. By the way if Knowles is online and reads this then have you heard anymore of spinksy? I know im clutching at straws but i dont believe we've heard the last of this yet. Also what time did all the media go home? As if the deal was off then why didnt they just announce it to them before they left to clear things up I honestly love all this how everone is looking for possible ideas that it could still be on ! Maybe it wasn't Scholes and they got someone who sounds like him to say it tbh it doesnt really sound like scholsey does it Maybe im just an eternal optimist or just clutching at any straws i possibly can but theres just something that says this deal is not totally dead it may be right at this moment but with all the media being at the club today then you would of assumed they would of said something regarding it being off and not just it coming from the local radio station who as said before on another thread are not always right with there storys. I really expected SSN to have found out they always seem to find out about everything yet they seem to still think its on

I know that the interview shown was from earlier, but why hasn't anyone (bbc, sky) confirmed that the deal is dead? completely agree i know there is a story on bbc that were after pizarro and in that it mentions that the zigic deal is off but there been no official word from the Sentinel and from Sky and you would of thought that with Sky being there all day and having open house of the place then they would fo found something concrete out

Why do SSN keep mentioning him if its dead in the water? They have not mentioned any other target despite it being in the national press today about Walters and Pizzaro. Maybe wishful thinking, but I think this whole media day and exposure on SSN is linked to the announcement we have signed him. I think you may be onto something as i've been wondering all day why they have held a open day today of all days it may be wishful thinking but i think something may be close to completion as it would be a cracking statement of intent if he was to announce a signing with all the media there
