Footballers are supposed to be like athletes these days and stay fit all year round, instaed of being all round in the summer weeks close season!
Tennis Players, Cricketers, Cyclists and track & field Athletes have an all year round mentality - Most European Footballers also do.

Lets face it no matter what your wealth, would you be willing to own a football club, especially in the Premier League where every decision is in Millions of GBP not single pounds like 99% of the rest of us.
Long may it continue but £75-£100 million on Lukaku + wages - squad of 25 on £5 million each £125,000 million + Management etc + Ground.
Frightening

Another WCGS from 1962-69 - I remember that Sports Day when Ernie Kershaw (Not Killer Morris) got a Shotput on his leg - he didn't even shout in German when it hit him. It was Butler who did it and yes in Dunkley House
And back to the subject the Farmer Brothers and others used to beat all comers at Basketball and the cricket team wasn't bad either. Made you proud to part of the school in those days and yes it was tough at times but at least you knew where you stood. And if you did get a detention you didn't dare tell your parents unlike today's pussies who go screaming to their parents after a small clip round the earole and parents then complain how little "Tommy" was assaulted.
Even the prefects kept a tighter ship than most schools these days

Yes. Sell Shawcross to anyone who will have him and make Smalling Captain - someone to get into peoples faces when they strolling around (Arnie, Shakiri etc) although Hughes may have brought in Fletcher for that as we have nobody who reads the game on the pitch.

Maguire a bit of a donkey really, similar to Wollscheid, but probably will replace Huth at Leicester. We have enough donkeys in our back four thank you.

Diof has square feet and a square head, all puff and effort granted, but very little skill. More likely to miss open goals when set up. i'e Not Clinical - championship player at best.

You would think older defenders is a better option than older midfielders. Older defenders can ready the game so much better than their younger counterparts, but in midfield thats the engine room where you need leg power for tackling and running and running and running. Strange signing IMO especially with the other ageing Whelan, Adams Sidwell etc. Perhaps the signing of Imbula is making a bigger impression non the way forward than anyone could predict.

Its not just the full backs. The back four have not been defending as a unit for many games, and the midfield have a defensive responsibility also - somebody ought to be telling them & Hughes management team. PC is no fool either he must be having sleepless nights!!

Wikipedia quote regarding MH
Joined QPR Jan 2012 helped them retain premier league status 2011-12. Despite High profile signings in 2012, QPR began 2012-13 season in very poor form. Sacked 23-11-2012.
Spending on good players is not his great asset
He deserves to be given one more chance to rectify his mistakes (again), but if we have the same drivel that we have seen since March 2016 then he has to go.
2013-14 52 points Goal diff -7 2014-15 54 points Goal diff +3 2015-16 51 points Goal diff -14 2016-17 41 points Goal diff -16 with 1 game away to Bournemouth
It would be interesting to calculate our form games won points gained etc from Feb/March 2016

He lost his extra defensive cover and got exposed. He can only pass back to goalie or hoof it up field aimlessly. That was Ok in the previous regime but not when you want a proper footballing CB
He'll probably be at Yam Yams next season

See sky sports ratings on stoke players. I could only disagree with butland, Allen and possibly crouch. Why did Hughes take off Allen and not Whelan - his judgement is so flawed.

Can't string three passes together. No urgency when we have the ball - shakiri keeps losing ball. No bite in midfield. Nothing up front all too slow - then every time shawcross gets the ball it's either keeper or hoof. When a team has little skill you need passion to compete - Hughes tippy tappy football is going nowhere

Both Bournemouth goals came from their right wing - where was our left side defense. All you could see at one point was Arnie running behind their player but too late. For the second goal why didn't Shawcross attack the cross instead of moving backwards towards his line. The ball bobbled about until it was put in off his backside. Not an offside goal, but shocking defending again. When are we going to learn how to defend, especially when most games we just can't score, which makes it so important to keep clean sheets. We must have had the least number of clean sheet from any team above the drop zone

It would be nice to get a young solid, versatile, quick replacement who can actually pass a ball forward and find a stoke player. One who can score the odd goal in set pieces rather than let opposite CB score. Get a good price and let him go. We need a captain who can read the game and sort his team mates out when they are fancying around.

It would be interesting for those statisticians to look at his time with the likes of Fulham & QPR especially after International breaks or periods with no game (Dubia trips and similar etc) as the team just does not perform after such breaks at Stoke during Hughes time here. I know they dont perform at other times too but for some clubs getting knocked out of cup competitions helps them in the Premier League, some clubs thrive on being in cup competitions, but Stoke teams seem to enjoy the lack of football matches!

We could get lower and its where we deserve to be with such a poor underperforming team and Managers. This just can't carry on next year...can it Mr Coates?

And what happens when Hughes takes Walters off and takes the defensive route by bringing on Whelan - Liverpool score ....and score again... predictable. He should have gone three at the back and pushed two up front - even Crouch

You can't have too many flair players FFS - Forwards need to tackle back - Arnie Can't Shaq Cant, Berihino Cant - thats why hes playing Walters instead of Sohbi - its balance and its fucking obvious.

You need flexibility in your tactics depending on whether playing at home or away - losing, winning and replacing half hearted performances like most of the team against leicester or strikers missing sitters like Arnie. I agree we need players who can play to systems and adapt accordingly. Oh yes we need a Manager who can implement tactics and MOTIVATE

Martin O'Neill could be a good replacement - there are a lot of managers who would like to manage under the Coates regime as oppose to some international tyrant to corporation like the Liverpool exec. We are in a very good position in that respect

Let's see what happens pre season to end of september - that should give him 6 or 7 games - in total from February 2016 that would be about 60 games - unless we are pushing top ten then he must go with his Welsh non achieving management team. I still favour Moyes as a replacement. There's no point in calling for Hughes out unless there is. A firm favourite replacement. If not Moyes then Brandon Rogers

Please can you write a letter on behalf of the oatcake to Mr Hughes and his team to just ask what, in his expert opinion, has gone wrong with their managing of the first team squad since February 2016 until now. They have Shaquiri injured for club for months but can play 78 minutes for his country then returns unfit! They have leaked goals like a Sunday side playing against a league side. They have spent millions on underperforming players instead of those players giving the team a lift, there inability to perform has caused the rest of the squad to question how and why are they going to improve the team. The Steele has gone in defense. The goal ratio has not improved when we had Pulis with 8 or 9 defenders. We take too long to attack passing into oblivion until the opposition get back behind the ball.
I welcomed the change in manager as I thought we would be more attacking while keeping that Steele in defense.
I have to question so much about the teams selection and performance. I feel that Hughes and his management team are far far too soft - we need him and his team to show some passion please.

MOYES would do a good job at Stoke and available at the end of the season. Sunderland Management let him down big time and any other manager Sunderland would be down by now.
I agree with above from Feb/March last year to this day something has happened between the team & Hughes Management team that they are underperforming big time. Too many gutless players and include Arnie in that - he's too happy, content not fighting for his place
