In today's print edition of the Daily Telegraph:
"Jonathan Walters is set to leave Stoke after the club opted against offering him a new contract. ROI international Walters....will push for a move to end his seven year association. Burnley and Newcastle are interested in the 33 year old who has 12 months remaining on his current deal."
Apols if this has already been posted.

I know many will not agree, but I think it's massive loss for us to potentially lose Glenn and Jon.

You have to hope it's not true. Not understood a few things the club have done lately but this would top the lot.

The older players who we shouldn't be letting go, we are. The ones who should be moved on are getting new contracts?

SJW has been a good servant to Stoke and it will be a sad day to see him go. He does score goals!

I know many will not agree, but I think it's massive loss for us to potentially lose Glenn and Jon. I agree it is heart-ache to see players like Jon and Walters leave. They are great servants of the club, better than a lot of critical fans claim, and true professionals who never give up and stop trying. I have to say though, our (and the club's) heads must rule our hearts and if Stoke are to get back in to top half of the table and challenge again for a cup, we have to bring in higher class, speedier players. We have been lucky to have them to revert to when the younger players the club have brought in in recent years have proved such a disappointment. Jon and Glenn between them have seen off several £ms of signings, but it cannot go on for ever.

Walters, Whelan, Adam, Johnson, Bardsley and Crouch all should have gone this summer. Hughes bottled two of them by giving them contract extensions - let's hope he doesn't with the others. The one I am least fussed about staying is Crouch, as he remains a useful nuisance of a plan B off the bench.
We need to aim for a quicker, more athletic style of play and they simply do not fit in.
Walters has been a great servant over many seasons, and can still do a job for someone. He would go with my heartfelt thanks and best wishes.

Didn't he do this a season or two back??? He's becoming a bit demanding lately inna he, what with threatening to fuck off over contract extentions and lack of first team football, anybody would think he's constantly stuck in the reserves or under 21 or whatever it is these days!!!

Why did we have to keep one? Buy a new starting right back, with young Edwards as understudy (with even big Geoff able to cover if needs be).

Truly ungrateful some of you lot....
Why not wish him the best in pastures new and thank him wholeheartedly for the 110% he has given us every time he wore the shirt. Technically not the best, but his attitude was never a question.
Best of luck Jon, you will get a round of applause from me whenever we meet again.
