I don't think I'm going to answer until the summer - I'd like to know how this season ends up first.

Interesting results so far - thought it'd be closer. He lost the crowd last night. The one's that go away at least. The persistent booing at the end was the worst I've heard in a long while.

See how the season finishes.
See what MH changes in that time.
Right now I'm utterly apathetic both with MH and our theoretical short list of alternatives.

As the world and his dog were when Leicester sacked Ranieri. Reading a few column inches in the tabloids or snippets of MOTD (if you can stay up long enough for our slot!) doesn't always give the full picture.

Why not do it at the end of the season? Surely that makes more sense.

Just showed this to a Birmingham fan informing him that in terms of a snap poll that due to volumes, this is about as accurate as you could hope to get and he was aghast! I can imagine! To outside eyes, it obviously all looks faintly ridiculous. But, to be fair, most of the Leicester fans weren't complaining when Ranieri was given his marching orders and it's often only the really interested parties who can see what's going on beneath the water line. And if even big pro-Hughesers like me and you are twitching nervously, it must mean something. I'd love to know the official season ticket figures as that'll really tell a big chunk of the story.

We'd struggle to attract anyone good enough, give the guy a chance to pull it round. All we get to apply would be the Steve Mclarens of this world or a certain other ex England manager. No thanks.

Depends completely on the last games, and which replacements are available.

Given Sir Peter's desire for silverware he may not be overly concerned about league position (as long as we are still in it). I'm sure he'd trade 9th for 15th for another final. But 9th for whatever we end up with this time might be a bitter pill to swallow, the clock is ticking on this one. Maybe given the whimper that was the cup exits this season makes his mind up for him?

Ive voted he should stay but mainly because there are no viable alternatives that would definitely come to Stoke.
If Brendan Rodgers or Frank de Boer were interested I would get rid of Hughes in a shot.
I hope we dont fire a manager without having a better replacement lined up, but Im not privy to Mr Coates boardroom chats.

Out, but hold the pink slip until after the season barring a 10th or higher finish I think it should be mailed. 8 Games left to do that.

I've voted OUT because in the same way that Pulis's reign became stale, so has Leslie's.
Pulis's obviously did a magnificent job and for that we'll forever be grateful but both club and manager realised it was time for a parting of the ways.
I feel very much the same about Hughes tenure in that I feel he's taken us a far as he's able. I think Hughes, up to this season, has given the club stability and really established the club as a top flight outfit. However now, with no apparent direction in which to take the playing style and massive confusion over incoming transfers I think Coates should pull the plug on his tenure before more damage is done.

We're not going to get Guardiola, but you'd think our pulling power is pretty much at its peak right now in continental terms. Can't see why it would work any differently than it does with players like Shaqiri or Arnie, who'll happily move to the English provinces and join a team they've barely heard of if the cash is right. The manager of St. Etienne who was mentioned earlier who's got a 6th, 2 5ths and a 4th over there in the last 4 years, for example? Surely any established Prem team could blow their salary structure out of the water and the lure of the league will do the rest. If he's operating on a wage budget of 40m euros over there, the chance to double that in England could be pretty attractive.

When Pulis was here, we had one very poor season (2011/12) where there was no danger of relegation, but sacking would have been extremely harsh after he'd guided us to the cup final the year before. After another bad year that followed, when there was a real danger of relegation, and the sacking was probably a fair one.
Sparky's having his version of the former now. There's no guarantee which way next season will go- the summer could change things massively- and so based on how Coates handled a similar issue with Pulis, I can't see him pulling the trigger on Hughes for a good while yet. Nor should he.
For me, Sparky's previous record has earnt him the right to sort things out this summer. If he can't do that and we're continuing to regress by next autumn then I think it would be fair to call time.

Just like Pulis he has become stale and bereft of ideas - and that's being generous - said that this season was his last chance with me so I'm for a change......and not for some other Brit journeyman meat and taters type. Do what Southampton seem to be able to do - repeatedly......
