Akor Adams with another 2 goals this afternoon. We should be gambling on this lad! I agree, but I don't think he will come much cheaper than £3M. Players from the Norwegian league have become more expensive the last couple of years.

Wasn't it Alex Ferguson who said, "you'll win nothing with kids"? No. It was Alan Hansen talking about Manyoo. ..but, did they?

In Durban’s promotion winners, Jones, Smith, Doyle, Kendall and Richardson were all regulars over the age of 30. In Waddo’s promotion team, it was a similar number. I don’t think it’s age profile that particularly matters, rather a balanced team that is more effective than the simple sum of its parts. Ah, but as everyone would have told you then, 'football has changed' Wasn't it Alex Ferguson who said, "you'll win nothing with kids"?

Been a really good player at this level. My worry is that he's passed his best. He'll be 31 in October so should really have at least 2-3 years left in the tank!

He is one of the Preston players I've seen during the last 3-4 seasons and every time have thought this would be a useful player for us. I think he will be a regular, but even as a squad player he is much better than Clucas and Thompson. I will also say he will be much more useful than Powell who hardly could play 3 games in succession without breaking down.

Looks strong and quick with an eye for goals, but the Norwegian league is weak so it's hard to tell how he would cope in the Championship. I guess it all would depend on how much we will have to pay for him to take the gamble. Looks promising though, and German Bundesliga clubs are looking at him as well I've heard. As you should know, plenty of good players have come from the Norwegian league over the past 30 years. I guess there is at least one at Man City and another at Arsenal.

Akor Adams has been mentioned? He has. What's he like Rob? Have you ever seen much of him either on TV over there or live? Looks strong and quick with an eye for goals, but the Norwegian league is weak so it's hard to tell how he would cope in the Championship. I guess it all would depend on how much we will have to pay for him to take the gamble. Looks promising though, and German Bundesliga clubs are looking at him as well I've heard.

....or maybe an understanding of the game? Nope, lazy.. quite apt considering what our "scouting" has been like over recent years.

Nobody is better in the Championship as a holding midfielder! I think that's a lazy opinion. ....or maybe an understanding of the game?

I really like seeing Ryan back where he belongs! Let him go step by step before being our most successful manger in history! I really hope this will happen, fairytail ending!

Although I'd very much like it to happen I just can't see anybody wanting to take Gayle off our hands. Loan only with Stoke paying vast majority of his wages Better than keeping him anyway!

Is Edwards really good enough in the air to play in central defence? From what I remember he couldn't defend the back post at all losing out on most headers!? Only in a back three I would think? And we don't want that, do we?!? No, we want 4 at the back!

Wouldn't be surprised if we see three in (Sanderson, Tuanzebe, Rose?) - with Taylor loaned out once 3 new faces are in. Don't think any of those are lefties, although maybe not as much of an issue if a back 3 is going to be rarely seen. Always a chance of different names popping up on the radar though - and a chance none of the 3 linked so far turn up here. Probably the same situation with Tymon. If Neil isn't minded to start him in the back 4, there's got to be a significant chance he departs as he can't waste a year of his career when he could shine in a team playing a back three. If he’s involved I suppose we’ve also got Tom Edwards as an option at centre back (looks like nine of his games on loan at Barnsley came in that position while he also played there a fair bit while on loan in the US) Is Edwards really good enough in the air to play in central defence? From what I remember he couldn't defend the back post at all losing out on most headers!?

If Jacob Brown is a regular in the starting 11 then we are going to be nowhere near the play offs. Same apples to Thompson,we need much better. Brown certainly has his limitations, but in a high pressing game he will be very useful as I see it.

Would anybody-disappointed with a spine of sarkic, Axel Tuanzebe ,Pearson and Keinan Davis? We will have to take a risk somewhere in squad so I would punt on Axel. He’s a class above if he plays 30 games. I'd rather go with Sanderson and Wilmot as I think Tuanzebe will be just another expensive experience for us. If fit he is a hell of a player at this level, but I really can't see him play more than 10 full games a season any longer.

I really like Smallbone and I think he will turn people who have a negative view on him around this season. I hope so because he was absolute shite. I really disagree he was shite, but as said before anyone can have their own opinion about a player.

Pearson to be announced tomorrow . Sanderson, Johnson, sarkic and bidace planned to be announced this week (Bidace more likely to be announced next week). Talks with Smallbone going well and the club are closing in on a deal Good reading until the end. I really like Smallbone and I think he will turn people who have a negative view on him around this season.

Østigård is extremely good in the air, but lacks pace, skills on the ball and is too hot blooded. You’ve just described a giraffe A small one, but it's very close to the truth anyway.

I'd be happy with Dykes on last night's showing. Beaten by Ostigard for every header he was going for. Østigård is extremely good in the air, but lacks pace, skills on the ball and is too hot blooded.

I really don't think Dykes would be a bad player to bring in. He keeps the defenders busy and he is not afraid of putting a foot in. He will certainly be a massive improvement up front in comparison to everything we've had up front for a long time! A limp plaice would be an improvement!

Dykes value may have gone up a bit tonight He was awful and the goal he got was a gift from Østigaard. "Both my legs cramped up" yeah, right. That's what happens when you've played 5 matches all season! Dykes couldn't cope with a defender who's fourth choice in Napoli and totally without match sharpness and a defender playing for a team that's 13th in Norway. I really don't think Dykes would be a bad player to bring in. He keeps the defenders busy and he is not afraid of putting a foot in. He will certainly be a massive improvement up front in comparison to everything we've had up front for a long time!

Tuanzebe on a pay as you play just won't happen. He is far too young to accept that type of deal and any agent worth his salt wouldn't accept it either. If he comes here it will be for good money, good money he could earn at a bottom end PL club as an option or at a foreign club somewhere. Where we would swing it is guaranteed first team football if fit, and by guaranteed I mean as guaranteed as you can get without writing it in a contract. Our choice is whether we choose to spend a lions share or our budget taking the risk on his fitness, a risk that a PL club could probably take and his choice would be to either sit in a PL squad or drop down and be a big fish. Can't see any club offering him anything other than some version of pay as you play What about a deal structured with £10K per week + £5k per game he plays? Could such a deal be enough to make him sign the dotted line?
