Why? We have two of the best attackers in the league to come back into the picture. An unknown quantity in Sima but who has big hopes about him. One of the best centre halves in the league. And two very capable ones alongside him who all ideally want to be PL players. The only issue is a DM. Bang on - Fulham aside, I’m not sure I would swap our current squad fior any other Championship squad given the choice. As you said, we’re lacking a true DM, and we’re short on options at right-back, but the play-offs should be our goal at an absolute minimum. There is absolutely nothing to stop this lot reaching the play offs.

There’s already a song for Østigård to the tune of ‘she’s electric’ by Oasis: Heeeee’s Norweigan, He came to stoke for a reason, We’re going up this season, It’s OST-I-GAAARD Second verse? Now we’ve got Sima He didn’t like Brighton either ‘Cus he’s an O’Neil believer Just like OST-I-GAAARD

Delighted to get to half time at only 1-0. Fulham look quality, and we’ve got far too many players having an absolute mare. We’re still in this at 1-0 but it’s going to take a massive improvement. If they come out and get a second, this could end up being a proper battering.

I’m not convinced his 81 goals in 98 games contributed to that….. Him being there on the money he was on did though. Took away from the team and they suffered for his signing. The money they paid him has nowt to do with his contribution. If they couldn’t afford him, they shouldn’t have signed him. He scored 81 goals in 98 games, and that doesn’t come cheap. He certainly did the job he was brought in to do. If that was at the expense of other areas of the side, that’s not a Ronaldo problem, it’s a club management problem.

Other than pissing Man Utd fans off, I don't quite see why Citeh would want him. Because he still walks into literally any side in world football and makes it better. Who wouldn’t want that?

I’ll take 1-0 every week if the goals are of that quality. This feels like a real team, and one that can get better. We’ve got quality on the bench, we’ve got attacking options (especially when Ty comes back) and we finally seem to have some leadership throughout the team. Players are starting in their best positions and everyone just looks fitter, stronger, shaper and more hungry. Trying not to get over excited because it’s very early, but you can’t help but be impressed with the development that’s happened in the space of one pre-season.

Plenty of players over the last few years have royally shafted us and deserve every ounce of stick they get after leaving. Vokes isn’t one of them. Glad he’s moved on and wish him the best of luck.

Clearly you didn't He's the least of our worries ref getting rid as far as I'm concerned. If he goes, fair enough, if he stays, play him in the right position and he will do a decent job What’s the right position? Chasing shadows all over the pitch, preferably for a club that’s not us.

Stoke all day long.
I would be bouncing off the walls with excitement to see England lift a major trophy the the first time in my lifetime, but to see Stoke back in the top flight is just too much of a gift to consider trading. Yes, it all went to shit the last time, but it was a hell of a ride for 10 years.

Does everyone in a squad get a medal? Shaun Wright-Phillips is down as an FA Cup winner from when ManC beat us but he wasn't even in the matchday squad. Not sure that counts really. edit- he won it it with Chelsea in 2007. So Ian and Shaun are in. His real Dad John Terry also won it, so that’s got to be some kind of record.

How low can we sink? Accrington effing Stanley players! what Leicester fans probably said when they paid £1.5m for a 25 year old non-league player from Fleetwood in 2012. Pretty sure a good number of Stoke fans said similar when we plucked Mark Stein from Oxford United, Got to admit I’ve not heard of this Charles lad, but watching that video, he reminds me a bit of James Beattie in his prime - and that’s not a bad thing. Bit of pace, aggressive, gets in great goal scoring positions, very good finisher and good in the air. Him and Tyrese could be a handful as a front two. Or we could moan about trying to lure players from Accrington Stanley and stick with Sam fucking Vokes. .

Is somebody was laying into me with a baton, I can tell you 100% that it would be an acceptable reaction. If someone was laying into you with a baton You wouldn’t have time to bend down and pick up a broken bottle Also it would be rather silly to expose the back of your head I would suggest the person concerned was probably holding the bottle all a long Suggest whatever you like mate. If it makes you feel better to place blame without facts, have at it. You asked if it would be acceptable to bottle somebody if they were beating the shit out if you with a baton. I have you an honest answer.

I would usually agree with this but considering the police will often go at people with batons then it could easily be seen as such. Those batons break arms and can cause serious damage. I saw the same footage as everyone else. Police smashing people with batons, some of whom are retreating. Entirely possible someone picked up a broken bottle in fear. I'm not saying that's the case but the last thing I'm going to do is take the police's word for it. “Picking up a broken bottle” and slashing a persons face out of fear? I’ve heard it all now. Is that what you’d do? Nobody in their right mind would believe that’s an acceptable reaction! Is somebody was laying into me with a baton, I can tell you 100% that it would be an acceptable reaction.

They’re both shite but Allen, for all his faults, at least tries. That’s about the best I can come up with They're both individually good players, but as far as team players are concerned, they just don't seem to be able to hit it off!!! Allen has had endless partners since joining the club, and has never hit it off with anyone. Trying to jam him into the side has been a problem since arriving. How the fuck he’s still with the club is beyond me.

I would have Hughes back now as a centre forward, he would be better than the wardrobe even now. 100% this. Sure, the Hughes era ended on a sour note and will always be tarnished by some truly appalling recruitment, but he was also responsible for some of the best performances in my lifetime as a Stoke fan. He gave us a glimpse of a Stoke side that could trade blows with some of the very best and come out on top, not just physically, but in real footballing terms. It was a fleeting glimpse, but it was fucking glorious while it lasted.

No, we’ve left it too late. Squandered too many winnable games. Next season perhaps. Plenty of games left and more than enough pin to still up for grabs to claim a play-off place. I’m not convinced we have enough quality to get there this season, but there’s plenty still to play for.

I think the best use of your best players is to let them play. He doesn’t need protecting, he just needs to be given the ball. Needs legs for Wednesday and Saturday. Sensible management Fair enough, and I’m glad it’s paid off. I’m just not a fan of taking off the player who makes the whole team tick when it’s 2-0 and there’s half an hour left. We’ve seen all to frequently what can happen in that situation. Thankfully, it looks like today isn’t going to be one of those days.
