A conversation I had with a few other Stoke/football fans and quite a few would choose England winning the Euros - not me though- Stoke promotion all day long for me. Which would you choose? Gouranga.

Stoke to get promoted but I think it’s more likely England win the Euros which will do for starters.

I'd always choose Stoke winning something (major) over England, but just promotion? Dunno

This got me thinking. When I am asked my nationality I will always say British rather than English, yet I don't think I would be very happy to see Scotland or Wales outdo England at the Euros. I will certainly be routing for England on Friday and had a quiet chuckle at Scotland today. At the same time I would probably plump for Stoke over England if I had to choose. Maybe my true nationality is Stokie?

Think I’d choose England tbh, give the whole country a much needed boost/break from this Covid shit. And tbh if stoke got promoted we’d be straight back down with this lot

Stoke will always be the priority in any football debate. I don't even have any interest in International football unless a Stoke player, or perhaps a former Stoke player, is involved. (e.g I see Arnoutovic scored for Austria the other day).

Well I'm greedy, so I'll have both, with Scotland to finish bottom of the group and Vale and Crewe to go down.

Living abroad, I'd probably say Stoke to get promotion. If England won the Euros, I'd really not get to see the country-wide celebrations, so it matters much less to me.
However, if Stoke win a corner, I get excited. It would be sad not to celebrate in the city, but the reasons for watching club and international football (for me) are very different.

Interesting question.
In my lifetime I'm I've already seen Stoke win promotion several times before, and I believe I'll see it again.
But I've never seen England win a major tournament.
So England to win.

Both That’s the trouble with Stoke fans it has to be one or the other No it doesn't it's just a hypothetical question, in all probability neither will happen I'd love it if both were to happen - but just as a bit of fun if you could choose which one would it be? I'll always choose Stoke over any other team. Gouranga.

Stoke to get promoted by a million miles. In fact Stoke to have a a half decent season and not get promoted would still get my vote. As the years roll by general football interests me less and less and the rather silly jingoism these tournaments evoke makes me cringe.
