I can't get on with it there. Wasn't a fan last time I went. Outside of Stoke Albert's Schloss and Albert's Schenke do a great Sunday roast in Manchester or Liverpool. Of course but I was hanging out my arse, I hadn’t even had breakfast when I posted the question Language, Timothy!

I haven't actually seen any of the new ones thanks to them being on Britbox, but first impressions looking at the puppets is that they've over-exaggerated the features too much. In the old Spitting Image, the puppets were deformed but in a way not too far removed from the real people. In the new one, they've just made them too weird. There was a show in the mid-noughties called 2DTV, and that was basically Spitting Image in animated form and very funny. Used to love John Major and Norma having peas for tea............. oh yes --- and the Queen Mother with a broad Brummie accent I haven't seen any of the new ones, either, Shakes.

Winder, window. Nogger, football. Potbank, Ceramics factory. Cut, Canal. Snappin, food. I always thought the cut was the path running alongside the canal. I'm not sure now I thought the 'cut' was the canal.

Thought of another one the other day, so I'm glad this thread has reappeared - saved me having to look for it:
To get something 'in a robble' --- ie. to get facts wrong, or shoelaces in a knot, or string in a tangle, etc.

Slightly off topic anybody noticed JoeinOz during match threads ….he always refers to players by shortening their name and adding an "O". Powo Allo Cluco Davo And the latest is Surro Are just a few I’ve seen. Is this an Ozzy thing? I think it is, yes. BTW, yorite, Lorro? PS: They also say 'this arvo' (or sth like that) for 'this afternoon'.

The problem is all the money received from tobacco sales in this country, it’ll never be banned. They’ll just keep hiking the prices because they know addicts will carry on buying no matter what I think that's probably true, Badge - unfortunately. Also, one of the things that annoys me immensely is the amount of times people get mouthy that smokers who develop related illnesses should be refused any treatment on the NHS as - they say - 'they've brought the problems on themselves'…… What those complaining don't (or refuse to) realise is that without the tax paid by smokers on the products they use, the NHS would be seriously struggling for funds as about 5 years ago I'm sure the value to the taxman of tax income from smoking products was put at c. £8M p.a. and has no doubt risen considerably by now? Just been having another look through the comments by everyone and noticed my mistake above - - this amount should of course have said...... £8 billion p.a. Apologies!

They need a date. I’m happy for it to be earlier. The point still stands. Let those smokers smoke or give up but more importantly make it as hard as we can to stop new starters. Make Photo ID Compulsory for every purchase of Fags. And alcohol and gambling whilst we are at it The problem is all the money received from tobacco sales in this country, it’ll never be banned. They’ll just keep hiking the prices because they know addicts will carry on buying no matter what I think that's probably true, Badge - unfortunately. Oh, FFS, Sime - I wish you hadn't mentioned that - now we've all got to dress entirely in black and go out on the lawn at midnight and dance round a cut-out pentangle, chanting " f " "go away, go away, go away". It's the same every time anybody mentions him. NB: If there's anyone who still hasn't done themselves a pentangle yet, there's a template available free-of-charge on the Château Murph website, under 'Gift Shop - Miscellaneous.' (**Goes to change into black stuff.......**)

Sorry, mate In view of the length of time Crispin assumed I was speaking to my pal Suzy - it's usually 2 - 3 hours. See you tomorrow night. (See above.)

New years eve 1999 for me, seemed as good a moment as any and like you I just drew the line in the sand and that was it. Plus it was affecting my ability to play hockey 3 times a week. Can’t be easy holding a fag and a hockey stick at the same time Chuffed! You've obviously never seen Chuff play hockey, Badge. He just kept the fag in his mouth all the time & both hands on the stick!

James Martin ? He seems to be on everything lately. Right, then, before I opened this thread I thought 'James Martin'. I usually used to watch BBC's Saturday Kitchen programme (I'm talking years ago as I never watch it now) but went RIGHT OFF him - and it - when I got sick of hearing all his "Yorkshire" or "after all, I'm a Yorkshireman" comments every other minute. The thing that put me off him most, and it literally made me want to scream every time I heard him do it, was when he used to say (eg.) 'master' or 'Masterchef' when he always deliberately elongated the 'a' sound to try make himself sound 'posher', as in 'Maarrrsterchef'. I can't abide falseness like that. I wanted to ring him and ask why he was in fact so ashamed of coming from Yorkshire by trying to disguise his accent.

The only advantage of vaping over smoking, and it’s a big one. I was spending £300!!! a month on cigarettes but spend around £80 a month on vaping after the initial £60 outlay on a device which will last in excess of 12 months if looked after. Also you don’t stink of smoke😉 I was probably spending double your monthly amount, Badge, & gave up in one fell swoop without actually really intending to - one day I just stopped doing it and managed never to light up again. This was 4 years ago, ie. it will be 4 years this coming November - it might have been sth like the 23rd - I think you often find that ex-smokers can quote the exact day they stopped - maybe because they know that to stop is one hell of an achievement. Amazingly I've never had any cravings to speak of. Must confess I loved smoking & was quite dedicated to it, particularly when doing paperwork and having to concentrate, and the financial angle of smoking never came into it - I just knew that health-wise it wasn't a very good thing to do, and in fact every time I put a ciggie out, and I mean every time over 40 years, I thought 'I shouldn't really be doing this'. I think the most hellish thing used to be taking a flight, especially long-haul, when the flying-time waiting was torture after also having had a 3 or 4-hour wait for check-in time before even boarding, then after landing there was immigration & customs clearance + baggage claim. I think there might in fact have been various 'air rage' incidents because of people no longer being able to light up during flights - it's one hell of an addiction.

So trying to cut down and got one of them a spray things. Got from my usual 12 odd a day to 8 today, doesn’t sound like progress but I can’t remember the last time I had less than 10. Just wanted peoples stories really. I know I’m meant to say I’m doing it for the health reasons and such, but to tell you the truth it’s over £10 a pack and it’s an absolute drainer To anyone else having a go I wish you well and feel free to use this thread for support Batts, you need to check with Harry to see if he's got any advice to help you - he stopped a couple of months ago and last time I asked him he was still off them, so he's done brilliantly. Anything's worth a try, so at the least try doing sth like making smoking more inconvenient for yourself to do & leave your packet in the boot of the car, or in a plastic bag down at the bottom of the garden, & your lighter in another place in the garden, ie. somewhere that makes it more difficult for you to get at them rather than just easily reaching into your pocket and having them immediately to hand. I know that would be a really minor way to start, but it might begin to make a bit of a difference & then make you feel able to tackle other ways of gradually cutting down more and more until you think you can give them up completely. Best of luck with your efforts.

It’s nice to feel wanted by the ladies on here…… 😁 Who says it was you...... I apologise for the confusion.
I have made a placard saying 'All Claytons Matter' (ACM for short) and am now waving it. When all the teams go down on one knee before future games, this will be why.

22, Rue Meynadier - 06400 Cannes
Thanks murph. Its a fantastic place to visit . Grab a baguette a lump of whatever you fancy . Its about 200 m from the beach ⛱ You're very welcome, Harry. I know if I went in there I'd want to buy everything in the place. The shop's / family's 'founding father' apparently originated from Italy.

Talking about t he French , I visited the most amazing fromagerie in Cannes . I worked down there about 35 years ago and was lucky enough to get a guided tour including the extensive cellars the ripen cheese in . If you can bring it up on screen with your superior [*] IT skills I would be most grateful . The name fromager ceneri , Cannes it's just amazing . I managed to cadge the truffled Brie recipe as well 👍😋 Mais oui! (**Mwah Mwah**) Attendez un moment, svp, Henri........... [*] PS: Sarcastic swine Okay, here you are, Harry:Fromagerie Ceneri, Cannes
22, Rue Meynadier - 06400 Cannes
It looks a fabulous place. In their www intro they say: The only CENERI store in Cannes run by the CENERI family, which excels in cheeses matured with passion, handed down from father to son for 3 generations. Located rue Meynadier in the heart of the pedestrian zone. Let yourself be tempted by more than 350 varieties of cheeses matured in our cellars: Our Brie de Meaux with house truffles, goat cheese with basil, Camembert with Calvados, Comté matured for more than 36 months, St Marcellin with Cognac, but also a very large choice of farm cheeses from small artisanal productions. Compositions for your cheese platters, buffets and cocktails and other varieties await you! We also once had an incredibly famous English chef, Henry (for security reasons we can only give his first name but he lives in leafy Hertfordshire), visit us. We were truly honoured to have had Monsieur Henri grace our 'umble premises and sincerely 'ope he enjoyed our special gift to him of a 1kg pack of Fromage Brie au Senokot……. when he asked us about all the little dark flakes in it we playfully described them, with a Gallic shrug, as 'finely-grated truffles' and kissed our fingers. As we waved Monsieur Henri au revoir we thought "Enfin!" and "C'est magnifique." Anything else I can do for you, H?!

The French just don't like us Brits, though, do they, Quez?! They still have a similar very sour aftertaste following Agincourt, Trafalgar & Waterloo. (Wait for it, wait for it............) When the politician Woodrow Wyatt went to France, he was asked by the landlady where he was staying to spell his name, to which he replied "Waterloo, Ypres, Agincourt, Trafalgar, Trafalgar" That's a new one on me, Cere. I love it!

I've recently become rather partial to a baked Camambert or such in one of them wooden boxes, a french stick etc. Perhaps currently indulging a little too often... Nice with an apple... Lidl in Longton are selling Camembert at 99p for 200g. Beautiful baked with a few slivers of garlic and then spread on chunks of crusty bread which has been toasted on skewers of rosemary. (A Jamie Oliver method I think). Yes, it is J. Oliver, Naps - his video is on YouTube next to the two clips i posted above for Baked Camembert + Garlic, etc.
