According to talksport , neymar will only get £138 million a year at al hilal , substantially less than Christiano Ronaldo's £177 million a year.
But on the plus side, there are a load of sweeteners thrown in

I'd be there like a shot Obscene though isn’t it🤔 For the money I am fairly sure I would do it. For all that shit added on, I can honestly say I wouldn't want it, I would just feel too guilty. Of ourse, with money, you get to have a nice life and you will be considering family friends being able to donate and try tto do something worthwhile or make some positive contribution, even if that is simply to feed an ego and be loved. 3 super cars, 25 bedrooms, why, what's the point? would I still drive my clapped out van and Astra, likely not but even if I won the lattery I couldn't envisage spendin more then £20k on a car, maybe £30k if I went electric. Yeah have a nice house, nice garden, but 25 bedrooms, why? I would rather buy 6 4 bed houses to rent or for kids. It just seems such a waste of money and resources invested for someone to kick and bag of air around on grass/sand when that money could do so much more. I would go further than obscene but can;t think of a word. I keep thinking of evil but maybe that's not the right word.

It is next level obscene, and I just wish the media would blank out anything to do with the Saudi league full stop.
On a personal note, I would not live in such a country for all the money in the world.

It will be interesting to see how the media does respond. It's a tin pot league attempting to buy credibility.
Will the media ignore it like they did when the Chinese tried to do the same?
You can see a few medua deals going on to keep it front and centre. Some friendlies, some manoeuvring to get their clubs (and more importantly their stars) into the Champions League?

Trying to buy their way into the champions league now too.
Wonder if this will be what paves the way for this stupid super league. Barcelona, Juventus, Madrid and Co. Backed by Saudi money.
Glad I follow Irish league football where I'm a fan rather than a customer. Premier League fans don't even have a leg to stand on when complaining about it because for the last 30 years they've been very much doing what the Saudis are doing now.

Will the former European based players still have strong beliefs to take the knee before games....or as I suspect we're they just following their clubs an the Premier league insistence on this enforced show of view, and dont really have a strong view on what they were kneeling for. Will sky sports see the £££££'s and suddenly want to strike a TV deal with Saudi or Will they stick to there "let's kick it out" stance. Will the BBC, MOTD and their presenters preach to us what's right and wrong as they did before the Qatar World Cup. but then go on to stay in qatar 5 star hotels for 6 weeks and broadcast every game. And of course the big one, what will Saint Gary Lineker have to say about all this.

And with this much wealth don't be shocked if they buy their way into the champions league I think this is a stated objective. Either this, or a World Club Champions League will succeed the European Champions League in prominence. If the financial rewards of World Club Champions League are increased significantly then the clubs will of course follow the money. I think the Champions League will feel the need to be refreshed (or is that re-marketed) anyway at some point as the number of teams who can realistically win it shrinks Trying to buy their way into the champions league now too. Wonder if this will be what paves the way for this stupid super league. Barcelona, Juventus, Madrid and Co. Backed by Saudi money. The next Club World Cup is in Saudi Arabia but only 7 teams. It was due to be 24 teams and in China a couple of years ago, but COVID prevented that. 2025 will be in the US and 32 teams: www.theguardian.com/football/2023/jun/23/united-states-announced-as-hosts-of-first-32-team-club-world-cup-in-2025It seems a crazy expansion, and I haven't looked into the format, when it is etc. although I believe it has leagues. 32 teams and straight knockout could've been interesting, but they (especially the already richest) want to make the most money possible of course.

Stuff like this will exacerbate the already stupid "inflation" of player salaries everywhere.

No-one should underestimate the global power which the Saudis exert on our Governments and institutions. They rule the roost.
The Athletic article demonstrating how our Government ordered the PL to sanction the Newcastle takeover, considering the obstruction of any sanction as 'an immediate economic risk' is pretty staggering when you think about it. It sounds sinister, and it is!

Plus all the individuals saying I'd do it for the money involved are forgetting that they'd have very different mindsets if they were as rich as Neymar, Ronaldo et al are.. before they've even gone! How much fucking money do these greedy sociopaths actually need in one lifetime? The whole thing is, as you rightly wrote, obscene.

I think those who are saying they would go are probably imagining jumping to this kind of salary from their own, which is of course unrealistic. Its just a fantasy. If someone already earning millions a week, where money is already no object, really feels the need for x more millions I would categorise that person as pathologically sick tbh I dont blame the players really, they are already living in a distorted world, but any system that allows this to happen is highly dysfunctional and damaging to others.

Absolutely.. in fact that is exactly what I was saying. Certainly I can understand why many players are following the money, they are afterall limited people much of the time who possess a physical skillset slightly in advance of their peers.. no more and no less. They're certainly not there for their intellectual prowess or, possibly more importantly, their moral compass. Rampant capitalism with no thought for it's broader effects on the World around us ( and that includes other life forms ) is just that, rampant and it is showing no sign of abating. The Saudi football farce.. in fact the game in general has become a symptom of a wider more spiritual malaise as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for your reply you little tinker, so eloquently put.... The reason being, and you may find this hard to believe, is that I am not driven by money in my life, at 51 years old I have learnt that there are much more important things to strive for before we leave this circus. However, I am quite happy for other people to have a different opinion and goal in life. So, to wrap this up, I suppose what I am trying to say, although you seem to disagree, I was not "talking shit".

Someone explain to me if the Saudis are bound by FIFA financial fair play? Clubs are ordered to not spend more than the income that they generate, and that they must balance their books over the course of three years. So either the cost of a match ticket is ridiculously expensive or somehow they are going to get their games broadcast I can't see any significant money coming in. Either way I can't see anyone wanting to watch the games
