I think that genie is out of the bottle. The financial doping of European leagues from selling to the Saudis will render all but the top clubs financially irrelevant. Aren't four of these clubs in the Saudi league already owned by the same group? PSG, Newcastle, Man city & partially Arsenal are. It's just a money swill and without FFP in that league it's just crazy. I mean why wouldn't you pop over for 12 months for 700M, I would! Tax free too, so long as you get your tax year ducks in a row. Trouble is who's going to watch this league? I can't be bothered "pick" an unknown team, so where is it going to go? Only Newcastle have Saudi involvement Think you mean Middle East backing

Saudi owned team in danger of losing their star man for nothing when his contract runs out next summer, get a world record transfer fee from a Saudi owned club. Nothing dodgy at all about this deal. No siree. Move along please, nothing to see here. . PSQ are not Saudi owned Qatari owned Saudi Arabia and Qarar are not on friendly terms

Couldn't we jump in and offer Jacob Brown in a swap deal?

Why, oh why would he go there, apart for the money, of course. Looks like gamesmanship to me from PSG, sign a new contract or you're off to the desert. Football, soft power and ego's, what a toxic combination.

It's great to see FIFA Fair Play working globally! It needs repealing Once again I may be wrong but I believe FFP to be UEFA rules not FIFA. D'oh!

He’d be mad to turn that down for 12 months before joining Madrid on a free. Which I guess is the point of what the Saudis are doing - proving anyone and anything can be bought be them. I find it completely obscene and very depressing. Meanwhile, fuel at the pumps is still high, funding it all ... Think the supermarkets are complicit to that as well mate! They are making sure they maintain their margin and more.Cunts!

Apparently we have to pay "global prices". Only, the thing is, fuel/energy/food is a fraction of the price in other countries and there is no fixed global price. It's just a con. When people get used to energ, it's then fuel, then food, now round in a big circle another banking rip-off and after that there will be another scam. But the herd go along with it, put up with it, some wailing ans squealing but those making the loot are laughing all the way. But yeh all this money spent on someothing that is not really that important. What a waste!

So he either sits on the bench or in the stands at PSG for those 12 months and earns about £100m, or he goes for this move, plays footy for those 12 months and moves to Real Madrid anyway in 12 months, making reportedly £700m in the same time. This offer to buy him reportedly only includes the 1 year contract to entice him to sign so he can still get his Real move. It's obscene, but what can you do when they aren't governed by FFP.

One of the best players in the world, in his prime, with just one year until the next major international tournament, there is no way he should go and play in Saudi Arabia whatever they are willing to pay.
He should bide his time, he'll get a move elsewhere - probably to Madrid, but for nowhere near the fee that PSG would have liked.

They're outright refusing to sell him to Real Madrid this season, and no one else is going to buy him for 1 year knowing he's going to only ever sign a 1 year contract. With a world cup next summer he obviously does need to be playing wherever he ends up and won't be best served spending the 12 months leading up to a world cup not playing. He is never going to not get picked for the French team so he doesn't need to worry he'll lose his place by playing in a worse league. From the player's point of view its a no brainer, from PSG's point of view its a no brainer, and Real Madrid will be happy as they still get him for nothing in 12 months. The only way it makes no sense is for the middle eastern person who is happy to spunk out about £1 billion on something/ someone knowing full well its a asset that will be completely written off in 12 months with no way to recoupe even a penny of that. But then they obviously have endless amounts of money and its like us buying a used car for a year to run us around knowing it'll be scrap by next summer.

We'll see what happens, but for me it's not a no brainer, Mbappe shouldn't give up one of his best years to play in a tin pot league. I have a feeling he'll turn it down.
PSG can't force him to go to the highest bidder and if it's all about money it's clearly not in their interests to have a player on the books for another year who is costing them a fortune and likely won't play any part in their seasson, the way I see it, the longer this is drawn out the more power Mbappe and any loaning/buying club has. I think he'll either end up loaned out for a season (for a hefty fee) to another top club in Europe, or we'll get closer to the deadline and Real Madrid will buy him at a fraction of what is currently on the table.
I expect he'll end up at Madrid this summer.

I suppose it does depend on the stubbornness of the PSG board. They aren't exactly skint themselves so it isn't absolutely vital they get the fee, they're more angry than in a panic I think. The problem is, there are literally no other clubs he is interested in going to, he won't sign for anyone permanently other than Real, so the loan thing may be possible, but who is going to pay a massive loan fee and huge wages for that sort of short term thing, but then again, times are changing. I don't think he'll end up at Real until next summer but we'll see how it goes as it gets closer to the deadline. I think the money the player is being offered is too much for him to not jump over there for a year knowing full well he will end up at Real in the end anyway. I know I would just say fuck it and take the millions for a single years easy football. But i'm not a super elite, worlds best footballer so don't quite know how it feels.

I notice a few mentions now that Saudi clubs might try to re-ignite the Super League project, or use it as a lever to be allowed to enter UEFA competitions with the Mbappe transfer being a deal breaker there?

I always thought of Henderson as a jobbing midfielder from the Glenn Whelan school.

He must be a right prick 🤣 As throughout his captaincy at Liverpool he has declared himself as an ally of the LGBTQ society, and this clearly was very VERY shallow when you have basically chosen money over morals. A country where it is illegal to be homosexual and he has been wooed by the cash to go there. The marginalised groups need people to actually stand up for them, especially those in the public eye. It's not as if he was struggling before, 200k per week, he is set up for life anyway. It's greed and it stinks!
