Shame but hopefully no hard feelings and I don’t think he can feel hard done by tbh.
Hopefully gets a job somewhere else soon.

Surprised A fantastic player for us, but didn't see any notable improvements from midfielders or the team at set pieces during his time. Hope he does well elsewhere. Does this impact what happens with Liam?

Interesting.

Got no idea whether he's any good as a coach but I think it was time for this "just in case".

I think it will benefit the club. Lets think he has been on the coaching staff alongside all the managers since Rowett.

A club legend for us, but this departure is long overdue. He has been part of the failed, dismal spells of three managers and frankly, the coaching set up has left a lot to be desired. Hopefully Neil can bring in people who he knows can do a job.
Good luck Rory. We'll still be with you!

Me and my Old Man got into the ground quite early for the Preston game and saw some most of the pre-match warm up (we are normally in the pub to be fair! 😂)
We both said that Rory looked like a little bit of a spare part. It was O'Shea and Canning (I think) who did all of the coaching. It is evident that AN has not given Rory a great deal of responsibility.
Maybe this is part of the shake up that we need? Although it will also be sad to see a club legend leave (in any capacity).

Good move, the stench of the past 4 seasons needs eradicating. Not to say he wasn’t a decent player for us and probably a sound bloke but can’t see anything where any of our coaching staff have had a positive effect on the team. Our set pieces have been woeful in the championship

Club legend. Always welcome back at ST4
Such a shame his boy Liam hasn’t done it for stoke yet. I thought he was a real coup and would turn our fortunes.
You just know he will go on loan to another team and absolutely smash it

All the best Rory and thanks for everything. As I’ve witnessed since Neil’s arrival Rory played a very minor role on matchdays when it came to decision making and I have it on very good authority that the pair of them were not the closest

Has anyone who has already posted on this subject got any valid and factual points to make about his leaving the club i.e. his coaching ability, his influence in and around the players, was his time keeping inappropriate etc.
Already some are saying;

As much as I love Rory, unfortunately he is one of the coaches involved for the last 3 failed managers, it doesn't surprise me

I wish him all the best.
Hopefully we will find a coach who can teach our players how to take a decent throw-in because they have bloody horrendous for the last few years.
We waste so much possession through them.

He'll be back with Salif Diao as joint managers to lead us into the new golden era in a decade.
One of my favourite ever players and one of our greatest. I'm very sorry to see him go.

Good. As much as fans love him he’s been nothing short of rubbish as coach. Let’s move the club forward and good to see the owners backing the managers apparent decision
