Flint won't get dropped for Jagielka, Flint has 2 assists in 2 games. Powell may start in place of Clucas who is injured but Smallbone won't be dropped. Quite possibly will go back to a 4 man defence though with Fosu making way. Gouranga.

Anyone with Gloves
Wilmot Flint Taylor Fox
Baker Thompson
Campbell Powell (if fit to start, DWP if not) Fosu
Delap
Brown is very very unlucky to miss out but with the make up of the side, we may need him to come on on either wing or up front, especially if Gayle is missing still.

Bonham Wilmot Taylor Jags Fox Thompson Baker Powell Brown Delap Campbell I'd go with something similar unless there are some returns to fitness we don't know about. Maybe Smallbone for Powell depending on how ready they think Powell is. It's not great but we don't have many options at all.

Would also play young Sterling at right back. With Wilmot/Flint or Wilmot/Taylor at CB.

Think Sterling said he wouldn't be in contention until the Hull game at the earliest.
I don't think I could pick Flint. I need a break from him

Would also play young Sterling at right back. With Wilmot/Flint or Wilmot/Taylor at CB. I'd worry about Wilmot Taylor as I think Taylor needs a lot of in game help and the manager has been using Wilmot's mobility to get up the pitch but he'd defend better if he wasn't doing that. I really don't know we just can't put a decent defence out both Flint and Jagielka look like what they are slow old men and that's not helped by Taylor being a slow young man. We've got to play one or more of them so play a low block and stop asking them to do shit they can't.

I need a break from him That's what I read,so I left Sterling out for that reason. I thought Wilmot was appalling yesterday defensively. I know he scored but he's paid to defend and the amount of times that he is caught out of position in a game drives me up the wall. If we weren't so stretched I would drop him!

How far off from being fit are Laurent, Killkenny, Gayle, Tymon, Clarke and Souttar?

How far off from being fit are Laurent, Killkenny, Gayle, Tymon, Clarke and Souttar? I was wondering the same. Sterling is not injured but not match fit (neither's anyone else though) Kilkenny 'awkward groin' so could be any time or a long time! Gayle not sure what is up with him, Tymon and Laurent 'making progress' but get the feeling L is ahead of T. Souttar comeback 'won't be rushed' so perhaps November in time for minutes before World Cup. I think we might see Laurent and Tymon after the international break (Watford on 2 October) Gayle and Kilkenny soon, Sterling in time for QPR. Other than Brown and Souttar do we have internationals any more? I would imagine Alex N will see the gap from 17 September to 2 October as 'his' pre-season

How far off from being fit are Laurent, Killkenny, Gayle, Tymon, Clarke and Souttar? Out of interest, why would you prefer Bonham to Bursik? I wouldn't entertain Bonham for a second and if Fielding isn't deemed fit for a game then Bursik has to start. He's young, should get better and if he doesn't we should be able to command some kind of fee for him given his "reputation". Bonham is and always will be crap. Bursik, with a bit of confidence, might just improve. I'm not convinced he will by any stretch of the imagination but he's more likely to morph into a competent keeper than Bonham is ever likely to.

Bonham Flint Jagielka Fox Wilmot Baker Thompson Fosu Smallbone Brown Gayle
Delap hasn't offered much as yet while Gayle has been unlucky not to register. Brown and Fosu look the two most comfortable with Neil's high tempo game and despite his howler last time out I think Bonham is a way better bet than Bursik in goal. With other options available I wouldn't pick Wilmot who has been a bit of a liability at the back but hopefully won't cause as much damage at RWB. Given Powell's pedestrian performance on Sunday I can see Smallbone keeping his place in the side. I've gone for experience in the back 3 in the hope that it will cut down on the error count.
