4 Positives* Saved us from a scrape with Division 3 * Oversaw the slow disappearance of the Prem high-earners and Rowett's drug-addled spending spree * Fundamentally a decent man * Got his hip done on our tab Negatives* After his rescue act we just never got going, never made an impact, the last 2 seasons done and dusted by February * Dozens of signings but no standouts, a bizarre cocktail of nothing players and complete flops. I still haven't worked out who half of them are! * Wasted the loan market opportunity * Dubious tactics that barely delivered a point a game * Nothing but bad luck with injuries. Not his fault but we didn't need an unlucky manager! ta-rah-a-bit Michael

He did a fine job when we needed rescuing after the PL exit; followed by Rowett and Jones' mishandling of the club. With so many former premier league players wages to be paid and the many additions from the above mentioned pair, it was a miracle he performed. However, now we're coming out of that era, he's failed to change the squad successfully into whatever his vision of football is and as such had to pay the ultimate price.
Sláinte Michaél.

Season 1 - 9/10 Season 2 - 6/10 Season 3 - 5/10 Transfers - 7/10 Youth/Development - 8/10 Luck - 1/10
Has to be a solid 7/10 on the whole. With a bit more luck it could have been more.
He's left the place much better than how he found it. And while the current squad has some gaps, there is no reason why a new manager can't build on those foundations and springboard the club further.

His biggest measure surely has to be results, and results should translate into progress. Despite a solid start, he plateaued and hasn’t shown any signs of being able to step up a gear from where we now are. I think 7 is generous. 6 perhaps at a stretch, more likely a 5 for me over his entire tenure. I’m glad he didn’t turn into a figure of hate in the stands though. He didn’t deserve that.

5- Best we’ve had since Hughes, but in the end not good enough to push us into the top half of the Championship.

Save us from disaster after the mess that clown left us in but couldn't take us much further. Horrendous injury list though. Gets a half point for being a jolly decent garçon though

Not his fault but we didn't need an unlucky manager! ta-rah-a-bit Michael Summed up nicely, though I think point 2 of the positives was a given for any manager we employed. Definitely saved us from Div 3 - 10 for that season, 3 to 4 overall. Nice man but couldn't move us on and upwards. Good luck to him for the future.

Massively unlucky with injuries to key players (plus loan players who could've been key), but his seeming unwillingness/inability to be proactive (or even reactive) this season after the disappointing previous two seasons has soured things somewhat. I hoped he'd get 3-4 more games to turn things around, but I'm sadly not too disappointed to see O'Neill gone. If the next manager does well this season (fingers crossed) or next, lots of credit will probably be due O'Neill with how he's turned around the squad.
7/10

7/10 he’s been a good manager for this club. Those craving another manager need to wait and see who the club appoint as a successor. I get the feeling they might be disappointed.

A generosity of spirit in the ratings on this thread I was not anticipating. Just to be perfectly clear, we are marking out of 10 not 100

Disappointing for some time and the right time to go. However his job in that first season was sensational with that shower of a squad, got rid of the deadwood and bought the youth through

5. He did half of his job and failed absolutely miserably at the second half. Exactly my thoughts. Was good as a director/back room man, crap as a football manager. Solid 5.
