He had a job, he was well paid. It was obvious his heart and soul wasn't into it. Rarely showed emotion and consistently made bad calls Glad he's gone Pretty much sums it up.

Assuming he had a say in the process of getting rid of the overplayed reserves left over from the prem and the Rowett tenure then a 6. -1 if he didn't have much involvement and would have been a +1 if he wasn't so stubborn with his tactics despite them not working (although he would still be in the job since we'd have likely improved).

You should look in a mirror and recognise yourself as a prime example of an ultracrepidarian

5- A great job in keeping us up. Since then the football has got worse each season, tactics haven’t changed despite not having the “right” type of player to play to his preferred set up. Games had become a chore, with excitement down to a bare minimum. With O’Neill we would have become a perpetual lower mid table team. Perhaps that’s what we are, whoever takes over, but it was so unremittingly dull and frustrating.

Best since Hughes. Last season was very unlucky for him. This season has shown no promise though

"Rate MON over his tenure"
Think you'll find it was closer to three years mate...

6/10.
Stopped the rot and kept us up, thanks for that, Michael.
May well have done a better job than we really appreciate given the FFP constraints, but seemed to be unable to move us on. Time to go before it got really nasty.

4/10.
First part of his tenure was very good. The middle part middling. The final part appalling.

5/10 based on getting us out of a pickle, getting rid of nearly all the big earners, playing dour sideways shite, poor game management and some mainly poor recruitment.

Started with a relegation squad, who he got the most out of. Built a promotion winning squad, who he never got the most out of.

5. Mostly gained in his first year.
Point of comparison: I had Rowett as a -10 (Severe FFP damage/risk & a jackass during his time here)and Jones at a 3. (He tried, but was out of his depth) Plus additional points deductions for the chest-thumping.

I loved him, he felt like a young Fergie. I was getting concerned this season after the great work he had done cleaning the sh*t out.

Probably the most frustrating manager I think I’ve seen at Stoke. He came in, Saved us from relegation & played some cracking football. Then went on to gradually clear the dead wood out of the club. Once he started to get his own players in it was like he lost the plot, I remember the lockdown season we were shocking, Last season we had a good start & then went completely downhill after Xmas. This season just continued from the last. I liked him at first but his inability to change things when they’re not working lost me last season & imo he should have been gone 18 months ago.

5 Started well. Was pragmatic and got the job done
Then became obsessed with 5 3 2 . Once the players suss you are not a results are everything man, and have a bee in your bonnet about systems ,it's only going one way
Ended with abysmal, apathetic, confused performances and a pretty clear picture that he had no idea how to play league one opposition, let alone championship sides
