7/10 he’s been a good manager for this club. Those craving another manager need to wait and see who the club appoint as a successor. I get the feeling they might be disappointed. 5/10 Surely they'll only be disappointed if they feel he'll do worse which to be honest would be quite a difficult thing to do at the minute.

Meh. 6.5 Can't be bothered with why that score. Feel like, its kinda how he was pitchside in a match that really did it for me. Ashleyscfc seems to have summarized it best.

6 - Good start poor finish but we’re in a better place than when he took over. Just a shame re the obsession with 532.

Michael O’Neill dismissed at Stoke. Took over Nov 2019 under FFP limitations, halved wage bill from £40m, cut squad, fielded youngsters. But did not win enough games – bottom line. Took on a wreck of a house, cleared & re-pointed it, now ready to be decorated by new manager."

AS most have said, a mixed bag. Lots to be very grateful for, but the bottom line for me has always been how much of my soul drains away after watching the games, and the last couple of seasons, bar the excellent start to last season's false dawn, have been grim.
Time to part company but with many thanks for stabilising the clusterfuck left to him and for bringing through so many younger players.
Onwards and upwards!

4/10 mainly disappointing but not unexpectedly. If only he could have maintained that early mentality, just wasn’t his natural manner though was it.

I strongly suspect his greatest work was behind the scenes, taking a total right off write-off of a squad, first rescuing us from doing a Bolton/Sunderland and then turning into one with potential which was only hinted at all too rarely. Regrettably it appears he lacked the tactical nuance to build a promotion contending match day team, including in game management. I think he's knackered and disappointed, and if his post match comments have been interpreted this way by the Board, then he simply had to go, for damage limitation as much as anything else. A charitable 7 from me. I'll go with what skip says but I've edited an easy error due to skip being *tyred*. Saves me the time of writing an opus magnum. OS.

6/10 Keeping us up in his first season was a major achievement. The financial consequences of relegation in 19/20 would have been devastating He has also developed a number of the young players. Campbell, Souttar and Tymon all played their best football under MON However his game management was often found wanting and he was usually reactive instead of proactive.

Far be it from me to correct an academic but I believe the phrase is 'write off' xx Do you know, I knew that when I wrote it. I will blame it on lack of sleep. The lack of sleep is true, the inability to fix a glaring error, schoolboy. x Very honest, I thought you would pull the old 'spell checker undid me' blag that I normally use on such occasions:-)

4.5/10
Bright start, early promise, never lived up to expectations.
Shockingly bad loans that he either fucked off completely or didn't play.
Shame really.

Positives:-
seemed to be the most decent and honest footballing man we've had in charge for years. Not a charlatan or a tosspot youth development yeah, turned around flirtation with relegation
Negatives:-
Absolutely no clue on tactics or substitutions No plan B No in-game management or presence whatsoever no idea how to use the loan market
Outside influence:-
Backed to the bollocks by the owners, but bad luck with injuries
For me, the the above leaves him in the minus column

Had an impressive first season where he kept us up, and I was sure we had found the right man to take us back to the Prem. Unfortunately he was never able to replicate that vein of form after the first season.

We might get a reaction and a new manager bounce to move us out of trouble, but the same conversations and the same criticisms will come to the fore in twelve months time. Sticking plaster solutions.

It’s a very difficult question that needs breaking down. In terms of the quality of squad he has left for the next management. 8/10. In terms of strategy, tactics and performances with his new improved squad on the pitch 3/10.

How anyone can go below 5 is blatantly stupid. Could be League One without him.
Excellent first half season Acceptable first full season Poor second full season Terrible start to third full season
6/10. Plenty didn’t go for him, but could have easily made it so much better for everyone including himself.

Season 1 - 9/10 Season 2 - 6/10 Season 3 - 5/10 Transfers - 7/10 Youth/Development - 8/10 Luck - 1/10 Has to be a solid 7/10 on the whole. With a bit more luck it could have been more. He's left the place much better than how he found it. And while the current squad has some gaps, there is no reason why a new manager can't build on those foundations and springboard the club further. God almighty I thought my wife talked some utter crap 🤡 No, it's not your wife, it's you

If you really think things won't get any better whoever we get in then I really don't know what the point of it all is, we may as well just close the club down and we all go find something better to do. It's a really defeatist attitude.

Just for the football at the start, the avoidance of relegation and the removal of the high earning deadwood.
The rest of his tenure has just been total dross.

4.5 from me. Seemed like a decent guy but couldn't get his head round his 'underdog' mindset, as far as I'm concerned. No hard feelings though and BIG thanks for his relegation saving performance in his first season here.

6.5
He did well in his first season and got us playing really well at times in other seasons, but he never did it consistently and the past two seasons were awful from December onwards. So much promise at times, I am sad it didn’t work out as I thought he was the man to take us forward for a long time. He was unlucky with injuries in his time here.
A special mention for his development of younger players too, he was willing to give them a chance where previous managers did not, Collins, Campbell, Tymon, Souttar, Taylor and Bursik all got their chance and took it even if some of them are not in the best of form right now. Brown was also signed by him and drastically improved to the point where he is one of the first names on the team sheet which never looked likely when he first joined.

Just useless and really pleased he’s gone at last.

9 - for the first season
7 - for the second season in stabilising the club and dealing with the Hughes/Rowett hangovers.
5 - since, allowing for the failure to sign sufficient players likely to improve the squad (other than Baker or Brown perhaps) but helping youth players to progress (to a degree).
So maybe a 6 overall.

He started excellent and I thought we had struck gold with him. Then it got gradually worse and worse - god knows why. He became overcautious and tactically rigid, making the team underperforming. It's a real shame after the fantastic start he made.
