Got what wrong? Neither were playing well by the 65th minute and should have been hooked. One scored. But yeah you’re right again. So? To that point they couldn’t have argued had then been subbed.

Remember that Chesterfield game, we absolutely battered them for 80 minutes only for them to score. Hoekstra scored two late goals to make the win. One of the most one sided games I’ve ever seen. You quoted just before the edit of “Sir Satan’s” statue 🙂

You’ll never learn, and your bias is set in granite. Sums you up and is why this discussion is over. I’ll let you have the last word on it but it’ll be more shite, but go on anyway.

Interesting to see what MON does away from home. He made a point, post-match, of saying he thought Smallbone would help us play "at home" - but obviously preferred Clucas last week. I'd be surprised if he left him out next week. Someone with his calmness and intelligence is crucial to knit it together. We need someone in that hole, we play better when Powell is in there, our best minutes since he joined are with Smallbone in there. When Clucas comes on everything collapses into a three and we sink backwards. Clucas can't play in the hole so Smallbone has to start for me.

As others have said, he actually reminds me of Souttar quite a lot too. Imagine he could be good in the middle of a back 3. Aden Flint, whatever you think of him, deserves a bit of credit too. He's got Taylor and Clarke to the right of him who are both inexperienced at this level and I imagine he's helped a lot with talking them through the game. Expected Flint to come out with a saddle on his back after what some have said on here. I was pleasantly surprised. Keeps it simple when passing but looks more comfortable on the ball than I expected. Yes I was similarly pleasantly surprised. Although he was never put under pressure in possession at an point in the game. Apart from Thompson the LWB and the right winger Bowler Blackpool were very poor. That's not meant to take anything away from a very good all round performance.

Not like you to go against the grain for attention Oh give over, I was tweeting it at the time because it’s what I thought 😂you’re giving me way too much credit and I don’t actually care it’s not what everyone else thinks. Tweet from 4.15 when I wasn’t looking on Twitter bar to put the odd tweet and Smallbone had done nowt to that point. Just for attention obvs. That was way too easy

I thought Smallbone was about our worst player 😂 Taylor was excellent. Tymon too. Gayle’s workrate but in the right places was a stand out too. Didn’t charge around like an idiot but applied pressure when sensible. Overall an enjoyable game of footy. Are you for real? Small one was at the centre of almost everything that worked today. Suggest an eye test for you.

Brown was the biggest difference from last week. Held the ball up well with some great touches and a classy finish.
I wasn't a big fan at all when he first came in, but he kicked on massively last season and he looked the business today.
Shame some people just can't stand to be wrong.

Depends on the type of passes they are trying to make. players like Smallbone, Powell and Charlie Adam who try to create will usually have a lower PA than Players like Whelan for example, who are there to retain possession.

Taylor looks like he will be a good player as he's got a real decent in game understanding, especially at his age.
He realised alot of his forward passes just weren't good enough on the day and rather than keep putting us in trouble he took more passes sideways and backwards. Which longer term he needs to make sure he can make the progressive passes.
He made quite a few passes to Wilmott who looked a little more comfortable on the left than usual, but he's definitely more of a RCB.
Found it weird what Clive Clarke was saying about the midfield. The three looked a lot better than what we were churning out last year. We didn't get dominated there and hardly saw players run straight through the middle. For that Laurent deserves a lot of credit, infinitely better than Allen so far.
For our next league game we should be looking at a very similar team if not the same one.

I know that. But the overall rating is the lowest of the outfield players. Now I’ve put an asterix in my original comment you’ve quoted for good reason. But my hope was that it shows why it’s not such an outlandish claim. I didn’t think it would be either. I thought he was clearly our worst player on the day 😂

I thought Connor was good on the day but had time on the ball as Blackpool didn’t press us at all. First time I’ve seen him and was impressed. I wonder how much pace/speed he has though?
Smallbone certainly has quick feet.

This but sadly I don't think their is a chance of him comming here permanently. Also thought Laurent deserves a mention did alot of the dirty work that broke up and started off attacks. Southampton fans said he was their best player in pre season. I’ve been Impressed with every minute he’s played so far. Always wants the ball he looks a cut above. If the rest of Southampton’s season follows the same theme as yesterday, then Smallbone will the their creative lynchpin in the Championship next season after Ward-Prowse has been sold… unless we go up of course!
