I hate making the comparison because of his bald head, but he reminds me so much of Stephen Ireland the way he ghosts about in midfield laying off one touch passes. Frighteningly similar players. Good footballer. And Irish But yes, both excellent first touch players Does he have an undead dead Granny though…

Him and Brown were the obvious two that needed hooking imo. Brown got better after about 65 minutes though. Better in the sense of being instrumental in the creation of, and providing an excellent finish to, arguably our best goal in the last 12 months? Damned by faint praise indeed. No irrespective of that. He got involved in the game. His hold up play happened, there was flick ons and he got better. Thought Gayle outshone him though. I was seriously impressed with him.

I thought Smallbone was about our worst player 😂 Taylor was excellent. Tymon too. Gayle’s workrate but in the right places was a stand out too. Didn’t charge around like an idiot but applied pressure when sensible. Overall an enjoyable game of footy. Not like you to go against the grain for attention Oh give over, I was tweeting it at the time because it’s what I thought 😂you’re giving me way too much credit and I don’t actually care it’s not what everyone else thinks. Tweet from 4.15 when I wasn’t looking on Twitter bar to put the odd tweet and Smallbone had done nowt to that point. Just for attention obvs.

Taylor looks great. Some really good bits of understated defending and he looked quite happy carrying it forwards.

I was pleased with a first look at Smallbone, he was relaxed, quite clever, did small things well. I think he’ll get much better too. Taylor looked like a natural, there’s a real player in the making there.

Gayle will score goals for sure, still relatively quick and a good finisher. Class act.

Taylor, Tymon both very good. Another superb display from Bursik, even though he didn’t have much to do.
Promising from Gayle. Usual hard work from Brown.
Baker and Laurent much better.
Unsure about Flint.
Thought Smallbone was our weakest player, but he is recovering from injury and getting used to a new team.

I can see a serious bid for Brown before the end of the window

Gayle will score goals for sure, still relatively quick and a good finisher. Class act. He worked those defenders all day long, coming short, going in behind, must have been mentally draining for them to keep an eye on him. Very impressed

Anyone who didn’t rate Smallbone today, probably shouts “come on get it in” from their sofa. Keeps the ball moving in the right areas which gets defenders on the turn, won’t always come off but when it does, something will happen!

Interesting to see what MON does away from home.
He made a point, post-match, of saying he thought Smallbone would help us play "at home" - but obviously preferred Clucas last week.
I'd be surprised if he left him out next week.
Someone with his calmness and intelligence is crucial to knit it together.

Taylor needs to keep playing. He’s going to make the odd mistake but my word- 2 games into the season and looks superb. So pleasing to see a young lad doing so well.
Him Souttar and Clarke ( if we get him) could be a formidable back 3.

I watched Gayle closely today.
There are goals in there just waiting to happen.
Second half (because it was right in front of me) Tymons crosses were awesome. We could have easily scored 4!!

Due to prior arrangements I only got chance to watch the first half but Taylor looked a class act, very impressed on how we wants to win the ball then pass it out, bright future for the lad no doubt about it.

He so reminds me of Souttar especially when he sets off on those loping runs. Must be a beanpole thing.

Can he play alongside H when he’s fit, or are they too similar?
He’s certainly got much better over the last twelve months, he played well at Millwall and he was impressive today as well.

As others have said, he actually reminds me of Souttar quite a lot too. Imagine he could be good in the middle of a back 3.
Aden Flint, whatever you think of him, deserves a bit of credit too. He's got Taylor and Clarke to the right of him who are both inexperienced at this level and I imagine he's helped a lot with talking them through the game.
As for Smallbone I thought he was a class act and played as if he's got eyes on the back of his head. He's one of those players that just has so much awareness of the positioning of others around him, and is so composed on the ball and in tight spaces. Did a nice dummy in the box too at one stage.

Expected Flint to come out with a saddle on his back after what some have said on here. I was pleasantly surprised. Keeps it simple when passing but looks more comfortable on the ball than I expected.

Keeps it simple when passing but looks more comfortable on the ball than I expected. He did a lot of good things today Flint. There was an attacking corner from us which they broke from and he ran back and made a perfectly timed sliding tackle. Then again there was a similar scenario around our own box where he made a good sliding tackle. And even when defending some of the corners he was very intelligent heading the ball out for a throw rather than to the edge of the box where the Blackpool players were waiting. In terms of attacking too he was a presence in their box and battled heard to win us a corner from a long distance Baker free kick. And then got on the end of the Tymon cross too.

Yeah Flint was a less shit than expected. Started off ominously with his first kick being an aimless hoof but after that he was absolutely fine.
Lost some headers from long balls you’d expect him to win but other than that was ok.

Good footballer. Yes, very much like watching Ireland play (pity he didn’t play more in his time here). I see Connor Taylor was born in Stoke in October 2001, when Sergei was in the centre of Stoke’s defence. He was born right between the win at Chesterfield (Hoekstra 2 goals) and a home win v Bristol City. The latter game being the day Sir Stan’s statue was unveiled. Time flies! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connor_Taylor_(footballer,_born_2001) offbeat.group.shef.ac.uk/statues/STUK_Matthews_Stanley_2.htm

Smallbones run from left into the middle opened up the play for the 2nd goal. Watching back on the highlights you can't see the clever run.
He is a very intelligent player.
Whilst I agree with Bayern at times his control could have been better this was made up by his football brain shown in both goals.

He was born a couple of days either side of the win at Chesterfield (Hoekstra 2 goals) and a home win v Bristol City. The latter game being the day Sir Satan’s statue was unveiled. Time flies! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connor_Taylor_(footballer,_born_2001) offbeat.group.shef.ac.uk/statues/STUK_Matthews_Stanley_2.htmRemember that Chesterfield game, we absolutely battered them for 80 minutes only for them to score. Hoekstra scored two late goals to make the win. One of the most one sided games I’ve ever seen.
