We've missed out on Wilder and Bruce because the board think MoN is good enough. Whilst John Coates is in charge we'll go nowhere. Wilder wouldn’t have come to Stoke. Bruce is yesterday’s man…….

Wilder wouldn’t have come to Stoke. Bruce is yesterday’s man……. Why wouldn’t he? Yeah I think he would have gone to the next decent sized Champ job that came up. We're no less attractive than Boro. They made sure they got him by moving Warnock on. Fair play. The cupboard is looking a bit bare now it's Wilder-less though

Lee Johnson? Can’t use sunderland as a measure because they are a basket case of a club - done well before hand so well with these players Done well beforehand with who? Bristol City fans can’t stand him, Sunderland fans the same, but you think he’s our man! I’d rather stick with what we’ve got thanks! BM

Are/were Middlesbrough really a better option than Stoke? Yes because of FFP…… But even with FFP, he made 6 new signings and on paper, some of the better signings in the league. I don't think we can hide behind FFP much longer, MON HAS been backed, and Wilder (or anyone else) would also have been backed

A Middlebrough or West Brom type job comes with less baggage. Just my gut feeling, obviously not based on anything…….

Your argument would be 100% valid mate if we hadn't made so many signings and let's be honest, on paper, the changes (both out and in) have improved the team/squad. If we had 1 out and 1 in then I think the case to blame FFP would be heavier, but I just don't think we can hide behind that. If we wanted Wilder (which we obviously didn't) then I 100% believe we could have got him and I think we are a better option as a club (faith of owners etc) than Boro

He'll either stay at Derby or go to the Premier League. The interview with him the other night showed what a rarity in today's game he is. Prepared to do anything to win and most definitely in the game for love of the game not the money. I suspect he feels very committed to Derby now and would find it difficult to leave them unless it was for a much bigger club.

Three managers we've had since relegation and with all that parachute money to spend and now spent we have not appointed a single one with form of getting promoted from the Championship, that's piss poor. Not only that, we've give the money to three managers with no track record of spending it, that's piss poor too. We probably are not even capable of getting one in with recent form of promotion from the Championship now

It's one of the best jobs around. Write your own job spec (copyright Mark Hughes), choose from a plentiful youth setup with excellent youth scouting and have as much time in the world, pressure free, to build a side with some of the most patient owners in the game. Any manager worth their salt would run to the job faster than Usain Bolt. I agree he's staying and so he should, the OP asked a question and I answered it hypothetically. I think you're right about the job, there should be a mile long queue for it. I just don't see how Rooney takes it given he's turned down his boyhood club who have millions to spend. If he keeps Derby up and the right takeover goes through, he'll be in a good position you would think to make them into contenders. Maybe a bit like Dennis Smith who said he wouldn't manage Stoke ?

I think the only way forward now is to employ a manager who will be given lots of time, who the fans won’t turn on. Like a Shawcross who no matter what the fans will respect. Someone who knows the club inside out. Another outsider will just be given no time and that is what this club needs now, time. Would love to see Shawcross as manager with Walters as assistant or something along those lines
