I wonder if the council have approached bet365 for help with the funding for an arena? Theyβd seem a very logical choice for it give the sporting events that could go on in there if it was done right - darts, snooker, ice hockey, basketball, netball etc. It just makes sense for it and to really make a go of it. Hanley needs more housing for sure as with more people living closer to more people will use it. But an arena would definitely add to the area and I think would be well used if it was done right. It will be used if done right, that's the problem when have the Councel ever got it right in Stoke-on- Trent?

I agree with all that apart from the location. Hanley is a dead duck and has had more than its fair share of investment and development. It's alien to me but given the focus of Staffs University on gaming, setting it up to present live eSports shows would be complimentary and possibly unique. Hanley is the only place for it in order to rejuvenate the city centre re bars and restaurants popping up around it Itβs no good putting it in the middle of nowhere where people drive in and drive out A prime example is our stadium β¦.had it been built on the festival site Hanley and Newcastle would now be booming Of that Iβm very certain

It needs to be somewhere near the station for me. The old Minton Hollins site might work, CPO the terraced houses off Shelton Old Road to create additional parking. Close to the Station and the A500, near enough to Stoke Town Centre, the Goods Yard, Spode, Staffs Uni.
Hanley's had it's chance. I go there for gigs and literally nothing else, in and out and that's it. That'd probably be how I'd still use it if the unlikely happened and an arena was built.
So far as I'm concerned, and given Newcastle's attitude towards co-operation with Stoke on Trent on anything civic, any benefit to them would be a happy by product rather than an intended consequence. That's coming from somebody who uses Newcastle on a regular basis.

Is one main road in and out of the place and will always have the same problem no matter where . In fact, it's probably in the best place possible, the junction of the only 2 main access roads .
