As sad as it is, at the end of the season it is time to say 'thank you and goodbye'. If he wants to and can get it, he deserves one last big payday in the MLS or something like that. I'm sure the local agents have the contacts if he has the drive to do it. We need to be realistic as to where he is, what he is, what he's given us and so on. We need to be very mindful of where we are with FFP and what we have to do with the rest of the squad going forwards.
Put it another way, if he had no affiliation with this club and we were linked with him on a free transfer this summer, would we be happy with the signing? A player coming into the squad with recurring back injuries, recovering from a broken leg and had hardly played this season?
It will be hard to say goodbye and even harder that we can't be there to do it in person, and he is as close to a modern day legend as you will ever get. There won't be another Ryan Shawcross at this club, but at 33 years old it really is time to go, i'm very sorry to say.
...and yes, i'm fully aware and prepared for the barrage of abuse, sarcasm and ridicule i'm about to receive for this.

I tend to agree, the reality is, he broke his leg under Jones, so he’s barely played for 2 years. If he’d accept a lower wage (10-15k not the reported £55k he’s on now) and be a ‘last resort’ for another year I’d be open to the idea. However if he fancies MLS I’d be happy to wave him off with my thanks and blessings.

I've watched enough of Chester and Batth to say that long term, our interests are better suited to seeing if we can get Ryan into his groove over a run of games than continuing to try out the other two.

We need to be looking at younger players, Souttar/Collins definitely not Shawcross if we’re serious about promotion next season

This'd be an interesting one for Shawcross, presumably in the summer? (although their window is still open now)

Their window is still open, he just sold his house and he's not getting on the bench.

This'd be an interesting one for Shawcross, presumably in the summer? It would be a great move for all concerned. I just hope he gets a well deserved testimonial when crowds are back in the stadium as 20,000+ would be a fitting tribute to such a wonderful servant of our club......

Their window is still open, he just sold his house and he's not getting on the bench. Yeah, very true. Just realised their window's still open for ages yet. So could well happen before the summer and their pre-season starts soon. Would be a great move

Would be a brilliant move that.
I'm not sure how the MLS works but aren't they only allowed three foreign players in their squad?

He'd be silly not to take up an offer - what a life that would be for him. Retire in Miami, easier to get coaching opportunities over there, get a coaching role then return to the UK for management.
Still whilst earning big bucks.

He's a legend but we need his wages off the bill.
Testermonial when the fans are allowed back in.

i imagine his value on the books is low due to age and length left on contract etc but his wage is enormous, be a great move for him, although Miami is a right dog hole really

Depend whether he is prepared to move the whole family out there whilst they are still young. Mind you if it's a 6 month deal they could still be taught on line.

I was there 2 years ago, looked fine, and I'm sure he could afford one of the nicer parts down on south beach area.

How would this go through if he’s “injured” I think he's just picking up small tweaks here and there because his appearances are so stop start. He needs a run of 5/6 games to get him back up and running which h's not going to get here......

Fun place to party, terrible place to live.

I stayed just off South beach, corner of Washington and 12th at the Washington park hotel, wandered about on ocean drive at night, all the way down to the pier and further up, bars were lively and a few with drag shows on, all seemed good fun, no trouble at all.
