We'll have to bring one in next week, even it's only on loan.

We can't catch a break with injuries. It's a miracle where we are in the table given all the disruption (and a credit to the management and squad). Also disrupts the transfer plans as well (and potentially the formation going forward). We certainly are having a bad luck season. Resilience needed.

I think our hand has been forced. We need another fully-fledged left-back than can play in a 4 anyway.

I was more on about left sided players in regards freeing up Tymon and Maclean to play full back He’s only out until February....the finances would make it a crazy decision to sign somebody who would only play a few games

And is it sustainable to have only one player you trust to play in a back 4 when it's just about your preferred formation - and if he's unavailable to play, you have to shift formation? Clucas may be a very outside option to deputise in a 4 - but don't think he'd trust Tymon or McClean I really think his hand has been forced to at least bring in a loan LB.

Shows why you need 2 players for every position.
No way can you get through a 46-game season with one left-back...it'd be a miracle to keep him fit for every game.

Our fate sits in the hands of the recruitment process and the chief executives fiscal alchemy to manipulate the FFP position as far as we can .

Not having Fox today was the reason for me we couldn' t change it later on and would have perhaps given Coventry a chance later on. Can see why MON kept the shape as were on top and kept their full backs in their own half especially second half as looked their biggest threat

Clucas can do a more than adequate job at left back.

Harry Pickering from the Alex is supposed to be a decent young left back option isn’t he? Perry Ng at right back while we’re at it!

I see where you are coming from but I don’t think you are being realistic FM There’s no money coming through the turnstiles, we have 5 left sided players of whom 3 can play left back short term if needed and Fox only out until February meaning anybody signed will be on a wage until June when they realistically is not needed The finances dictate it would be madness in the current climate

I like the idea of Pickering from Crewe, who'd easily fit into our wage structure and cost about the same as 3 months of Etebo and Ndiaye's wages!

Until last season I'd have said it was his best position. In fact, I remember posting something on a clucas thread in his 2nd season which was a very abrupt "left back or nowhere" comment in relation to his role in the team at that time

Let’s learn from our mistakes. Nearly as bad as Edwards for being exposed.

Would love him here but is he a bit too adventurous for an O’Neil full back?

Smith to left back in a back 4 is about the only thing we should do imo.
Edit- Clucas is a good should actually.
Could Thompson players there? He’s shit in midfield so could be a use of him.

Do we have any decent LB prospects in the youth teams at all?
Not that I'm saying throw them in right now, but thinking for the future years ahead. Any who stand out or is it an area of weakness?

Couldn’t Liam Lindsay come in and play left back for a few games?

Lindsay at left back, I doubt it, MON doesn't even trust him in his natural position.

Pickering is having a fantastic season, he's made the step up to league one without any issues.
He can also play, LWB, Left Mid and as a central midfielder.
I'd definitely give him a go, we'd possibly get him for 750k and his wages would be bugger all.
