Yeah RIP and a real football legend. I'm too young to remember him in his pomp but I do remember him screaming at the camera at 1994 world cup which is probably the first major tournament I can remember.

I would recommend anyone who hasnt seen it to watch the documentary about him. I had no idea about the extent of the mafia in his time in Italy
an over used term -but genuine here - genius

Pity his reputation was tarnished by his cheating game, but still a wonderful and entertaining footballer the likes of which most people will never see. RIP, Diego.

RIP Diego. I’m not sure he is the best of all time but obviously a footballing legend. Some of the cheat comments are below the belt IMO, it’s just a game🤷🏻♂️

RIP. The greatest footballer I have ever seen and will ever see. Agree completely would walk on to any team in the world and is probably the only person to ever win the World Cup by himself. The 86 Argentina team had some good players no doubt, but the same as with Napoli he was just stunningly different. Would be the best player in any team he played for or in any fantasy team you could create. As much as I hated him for England’s defeat in Mexico and as much as the drugs and his lifestyle is a bad example if you saw him with a football at his feet you couldn’t help but move that bit closer to the tv to see what he would do next. Quite simply the greatest player in the 80’s by a huge margin and undoubtedly in everybody’s top five and for me just a joy to watch RIP Diego Armando Maradona

Sad. I can never reconcile his absolute footballing genius with being a cheating you know what.
I recommend anyone to watch the film documentary Maradona. Superb balanced view of a troubled genius.

Lots of great footballers from the old days but pele was the greatest goal scorer but maradona was the greatest player the world had ever seen up until that point.
The modern Ronaldo and messi may take that crown but there is enough of footage of Maradona (unlike the likes of puskas er al) to ensure his genius will be remembered.
In England only the hand of god will overshadow his career (94) is largely forgotten)
At his peak he was unbelievable
An on the anniversary of another flawed football genius George Best
RIP

Totally agree re the documentary. Fascinating TV. Hopefully somebody will put the link on of his goal against England. ( Not the hand of God one) He was in the directors box at the Brit a few years ago. RIP
