RIP I would recommend anyone who hasnt seen it to watch the documentary about him. I had no idea about the extent of the mafia in his time in Italy an over used term -but genuine here - genius That documentary made me see him in a whole new light. Used and abused by the mafia who spat him out when they’d had their fill. RIP Diego. Football genius. BM

he was not a gentleman of the game like our Gordon was or Pele or countless other true greats
i hope they do not attempt a minutes silence this weekend for the cheating shite hawk

RIP. Scotland will observe a day of mourning, due to them losing their biggest footballing hero. He was cheered on by Scottish fans for over 35 years, this was after his infamous " hand of god " goal against England. Great talent on the pitch, a total wreck off the pitch.

R.I.P Most naturally gifted footballer of all time. No one even comes close to the raw talent he had. There are better goalscorers (pele, messi, ronaldo) but Maradona was the greatest at football in general, and possibly the greatest footballing entertainer that ever lived.

Incredible footballer, and (yes, I know he cheated us) an example to all modern footballers of how not to be an absolute fanny and fall over at the slightest touch. He was pretty impossible to knock off the ball, brilliant combination of skill and power.
RIP

What a sh*tty year.....
The best player to lace on a pair of boots, imho.
Strong as an ox,brazen, bullish, brilliant forging angles and opportunities that didn't seem to exist.Even when it came to cheating he was an iconoclast:not for Diego the self-consciuous,apologetic sleight of hand of a shame faced Thierry Henry say,Maradona did it with confrontational braggadocio...
A touch like Gazza after him, didn't possess the wisdom to surround himself with better people.
That pic of him confronted by a host Belgium players must be one pf the most enduring football images I can recall.
Flawed genius, football guerilla fighter, and yeah, something of a cheat, now raising a middle finger to FIFA from the heavens.
RIP the greatest. 😢

It’s indicative of how our society has become morally bankrupt and bereft of true, honest role models when we have when a drugs cheat spoken of so fondly and glowingly like he was some friendly uncle who made a minor error.
