What you're saying is that the manager is beyond criticism. What sort of '12th man' do you reckon you were during the promotion season or the first season up, when you'd lose your shit over trivialities like Richie De Laet going to Manchester United? Now you're saying anyone who questions anything when we need to scrap for every point isn't a proper fan? I think criticising a manager before he's picked one team in our current predicament is out of order. You're bringing up stuff that happened 10 years ago ffs. Yeah, what's changed? Why was that ok? Questioning why one of your best players has been dropped isn't criticism. He's been criticised since when he's cocked up and praised when he's got it right. That's the way it should be, isn't it?

So in 10 years you haven't changed your opinion, viewpoint or mindset about anything? N'Diaye has gone, he never wanted to be here. When he played results were no better or no worse. We've spent £14million on him yet the best we can do is loan him to a second rate team in Turkey. He's no good mate, a bit like the rest of them, which is a direct result of disastrous transfer dealings going back years. Something I have been consistent on.

I don’t recall you having a road to Damascus moment about it, are you saying you were wrong to do that now? It’s not really about Ndiaye (though I’m not having this revisionism that he wasn’t playing well, which nobody was saying before MON dropped him). It’s about this omerta regarding questioning the manager and the idea that’s somehow treason. It’s weird.

No they aren't. The odd one or two are questioning some of his decisions and the rest are supportive. I think the treatment he is getting is symptomatic of where we are in the league more than anything. I also don't think the new manager has done himself any favours by leaving his NI job open. Before a team was selected certain people who should know a whole lot better were wading in. When a manager takes a job on with a team and an organisation like SCFC have he needs all the support he can get. Instead SCFC fans are letting him have it - 12th man eh? That's the same with any appointment. We had people mocking Rowett for his speech impediment and Jones' faith in god before they picked a side. We had people joining in with QPR fans and Bristol City fans before Hughes and Pulis had picked a side. If you can't hack that and see past it, and look at the genuine arguments that people are putting forward then you're in the wrong place.

That the board is a "team"? Maybe that is the case looking at the "team" they have built on and off the pitch. They make decisions together as a team, whereas you're always looking for an individual to blame. Can't remember who you blamed in your first 19000 messages, but lately it's been Jones, now it's Scholes.

You still on about etebo? I’m responding to Pugsley’s reference to questioning his first team selection. Obviously. Were you referring to etebo though? If you were and with pedantry being a specialist subject of yours, you'd surely be aware that etebo hasn't been dropped. To have been dropped, you have to have played. He has simply been left out.

So you are blaming four of them collectively so you agree the "team" have produced the team we have on and off the pitch, it's fairly obvious one director has very little say, the old man has handed the reins over to Jnr who is mates with Scholes the CEO of the business who had a massive pay rise despite failing to carry out his job to a competent standard, we are a shambles on and off the pitch, Jones was a disastrous appointment and we all know who chose him.

Not saying Scholes has done a good job, but I think that blaming him for the relegation is way off the mark. Not 100% no - why does everything get taken so black and white on this forum? The club (business) that he has been chief executive of has declined immensely under his stewardship, with millions and millions wiped off the balance sheet. Good reputation has been destroyed. Debts have ballooned. Standing in the game has been pissed away. All while we've had the financial backing to sustain or even build on what we had. In any other business, he would have been "looking for new opportunities" long ago. The reason he is not is down to the incompetence of the board - see not all his fault. However, this thread is about Scholes. Not about Coates. Not about O'Neill. Scholes out. Sigh... Copied for clarity. The club (business) that he has been chief executive of has declined immensely under his stewardship, with millions and millions wiped off the balance sheet. (Due 99.9% to being relegated- not Scholes' fault) Good reputation has been destroyed. (What reputation? - OH, SCFC in Prem for a few years, ok! Due primarily to relegation, poor results, inability to bounce back - all not Scholes' fault) Debts have ballooned. (primarily due to being unexpectedly relegated - Not Scholes' fault) Standing in the game has been pissed away. (See reputation above - not Scholes' fault) All while we've had the financial backing to sustain or even build on what we had. In any other business, he would have been "looking for new opportunities" long ago (Unless, given relegation he is following his employers orders to their satisfaction. Limiting losses, limiting loss of reputation, etc. In which case - he is doing what he is being paid to do). The reason he is not is down to the incompetence of the board (WOW! I'm guessing that having poured HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS into the organization, the owners have the right to make a few errors) - see not all his fault. However, this thread is about Scholes. (Started off by complaining about the choice of current manager - I'm quite happy with him so far!) Not about Coates. Not about O'Neill. Bottom line, unless you have a few hundred million that you want to throw at Stoke, let the people who have run the club and given us 10 years in the premiership make the decisions. On balance, they have not done too badly.

Worse than we are now? And this thread was not started by anyone having a pop at the manager. You and another abusive poster have interpreted it that way. If, in your words, the chief executive of a football club is only 0.1% responsible for what happens, I ask you, what is the point of him at all? If he's unable to influence things, on his inflated salary, aren't you actually admitting that he is useless?
