We do though so I don’t see where it fails to hold up? Yes we have a bloke with that title but it doesn't mean his role is the same as Mark Zuckerburg. Hound him out and see if it makes you feel better but in doing so all you are really doing is attacking the owners who clearly believe he carries out the role okay in so far as they see it. The owners are where the buck stops. The owners need to feel like they’ve been attacked (not physically 😂) though so I don’t see your point tbh. The board deserve both barrels.

It would be foolish in the extreme to want the Coates to sell up, but they need to run the club like it's 2020, not 1990.

This might sound very gloomy to many on here, but what happens if MON is the right appointment and we go storming back to the Premier League in the next two or three years? In that scenario, the Board, including TS will have played a blinder (remember they have one of the most difficult tasks in English football at the moment). I am sure the fair minded commentators on here will no doubt sing their praises as they did before?

And our ten year legacy will count for Jack shit. But well done scholesly for rebuilding a poorer version of what you destroyed we can say.

We can moan about Scholes all we want But he has signed the players that the previous managers wanted
So is he culpable of listening to managers who should actually know who they want as they are paid to tell scholes who they want and he’s just gone out and got them. So maybe it’s the manager recruitment that is the issue!
Naive gullible inexperienced yes but has he just gone out and done what he’s meant too !!
I’m not sticking up for him in any way shape or form as he’s offered players contracts etc
Also he will be told what he can offer etc at board meetings.
Hughes was a Peter Coates signing Rowett Peter/John ? Jones definitely a John O’Neil has the earmark of a Peter/ John signing They need to learn from their mistakes quickly and we have to hope O’Neill is the right man who can turn this around But most of all we can’t go throwing good money after bad Just looking at it from a different perspective!

Are you complaining about the selection of the manager that has won 4 out of 9 games with the same bunch that couldn't score, couldn't win and couldn't play? He is. Incredible isn’t it. We really do have some of the thickest fans on the planet. Since Hughes (belatedly) was sacked almost 2 years ago he’s appointed Lambert, Rowett, Jones and O Neill using his wonderful tried and tested recruitment methods that he informed us were the same for all of them. Which of these appointments has been a fantastic success? Even if MoN does turn out to be a success that’ll be 1 out of 4, so will that be because of his wonderful unchanging recruitment process or getting lucky? Whatever happens with MoN, Scholes 3 previous appointments have made the task for the 4th a lot harder, time and money has been wasted as has the best chance we had of remaining or quickly returning to the top table. When you’ve stopped jizzing your pants about yesterday’s rare but fantastic win look at the league table and reflect on where your hero Scholes brilliant recruitment process has taken us from and to in the last 2 years. Calling me thick must make your mirror embarrassed! BM

So in essence are you saying Scholes is paid in excess of £750k for doing what he is told? In other words he has no responsibility for bringing any thing to the table. Lets get real here. Scholes has been part and parcel of the disastrous fall from grace over the past 4 years. He has been an integral part of the process that has seen £10s of millions of £s thrown away on poor players. He has hidden away from scrutiny for the last 3 years with barely a public utterance. There is absolutely no defending him. Yes the real power lies with the Coates family but he is being paid a ridiculous sum of money presumably to take the flack and that is what he is having to do now! So in my eyes Tony Scholes get out of our club is wholly appropriate.

Yes the real power of the club ultimately lies with the owners however the day to day running of the club lies with the CEO and as we've all seen we are absolute clown show off the field. For me that's squarely at his feet. We've had all sorts of shambles over the last god knows how many years. It took far too long for the club to invest in simple contactless payments at kiosks. The complete lack of any form of queuing system for the majority of kiosks means its just a toss experience at half time. The companies employs to sort out the traffic outside the ground have caused chaos time and time again. Dont get me started on the website and streaming service.
If he was the CEO of any other organisation he would have been handed his P45 a long time ago. Instead we let the fucker on the board.
He's also more than happy to put his mug on any picture when its good news and I'm sure he's happy to take the credit (free away travel an example) but when things are toss he's nowhere to be seen.

Bang on right. The MD holds ultimate responsibility for everything. If the production director on a Pot Bank fowls things up, he gets fired (no pun intended), as does the MD that appointed him (if the fowl up is very serious). It's no using whining that the MD can't be expected to know all of the ins and outs of how a piece of pottery is made. Of course not - that is why he appoints someone that does - the production director. I'm not sure that analogy quite works, most football clubs don't have an all powerful Chief Exec like a corporate company would have. They tend to have Owners with a handle on the purse strings and a Manager responsible for the coaching team and in turn the playing side. Its why you often hear fans of other clubs demanding the head of the manager or the owner but almost never the Chief Exec People get incensed if results are bad but not so much if the finances fail audit, or ticket prices rise, or the bovril is not hot or the stand extension overruns and so on. It's a big title and a generous salary but he's not all powerful. I would say if you want to hang him out to dry then it would be around recent appointments if the head coach, but he is not sole decision maker on that, just another board member.
Out of interest who do you blame for the following:
Card payments being introduced 15 years after they should have been. Booking fees introduced on tickets. Cost to upgrade a OAP to Adult ST card for a one off game has doubled part way through a season. Countless blunders on social media. Countless blunders with club kit. Taking a 20% payrise for over seeing a complete and utter shambles, on and off the pitch. Appointing Paul Lambert Appointing Gary Rowett Appointing Nathan Jones
I'm in full agreement he is far from solely responsible for the football side, but he has to be accountable for something. And I'll guarentee you whatever it is, is a shambles.

It's not a coincidence that Brentford are signing good young players , like Ollie Watkins and Rico Henry from exeter academy / Walsall academy for pennies
And are third
And scholes is spending millions on imbula berahino wimmer etc
And we are fourth bottom
It's because Brentford are being run right And Stoke are being run wrong
As CEO , I can't understand how scholes can say ' that's nothing to do with me '
If he has nothing to do with the running of the club , why is he CEO ?

I honestly don't hold too much of a grudge against the hirings of Rowett and Jones, both seemed like they were interesting and good options. And the signings over those times probably were manager led. My biggest issue with the board is their actions between 2016-2018. Hughes not being sacked in Summer 2017 was the biggest issue, closely followed in chronological order by: Hughes not being sacked in October 2017. Hughes not being sacked in December 2017. Not having a backup manager set before sacking Hughes. All that meant we hired a nice but tactically inept boss who couldn't keep up the best side to go down in years when he had several piss easy chances to do so. That caused relegation, and the mixture of ineptitude, lack of player motivation and bad luck from Rowett and NJ has us where we are.
