That he made the bench press on Saturday. If he's training well, could he be an option?

If MON has seen something in Cousins to suggest he is a professional footballer then I will withhold judgement...it would be quite a surprise though

He can't do any worse as a DM than Woods can he?
That said, all this has got a huge feeling of Deja Vu about it.
We've been here so many times across the last three managers with respect to Woods. Comes in, good couple of games before turning to shit.

Woods is a victim of the erratic no thought transfer policy At Brentford he had pass and move players alongside him and always available so he was able to dictate the Brentford play and tempo whereas here ..... He was player of the season above Sawyers etc but theyβve signed for clubs who fitted that style of play Woods would excel at a WBA .....Some see it some donβt mate and that goes for many of our signings as individually and in teams who fit them would be excellent elsewhere

Whilst I don't hold much faith in Nathan Jones' judgement, I always remember when we signed him Jones said he was always the fittest hardest training player he ever had!!...........so guess with effort alone he stands out in SCFC training sessions!? Makes you wonder why he rarely played him, the few times I saw him he hardly moved and was a liability so expect to see him start against Luton.

To me he's just another victim of being a shit footballer. The player of the year bit at Brentford doesn't really wash either. Where did they finish? He is so ridiculously limited I'm almost embarrassed for him.

Iβm baffled as to why why weβve moved from NβDiaye as our defensive mid when he was miles better than anyone else there. 4-2-3-1with him and any of the others and Powell ahead and weβd look a much better team surely?

When Woods played at Brentford they generally started with two very decent ball playing centre-backs who could pass the ball progressively through the midfield, Woods would shuttle in the gaps they would leave and then pick up the scraps and pass into the areas left vacant by the CBs venturing forward or pulling players out of position through their passing. He's also sit very deep and hit long, accurate passes to the wings of advanced fullbacks.
His entire game revolves on movement around him, the CBs to be adventurous and to pass (no coincidence one such defender was Jack O'Connell who now rampages forward as one of Wilder's overlapping CBs at Sheff United) and the wingers and forwards to move into the gaps created by their play.
Then he came to us, into the most static squad in the league and with some of the worst defensive passers for progression. The best parts of his game were completely nullified and he becomes yet another passenger in our creative dirge of a midfield. It's another example of Gary Rowett and the transfer team looking at a player for his reputation and not actually conceiving a plan as to how to get the best out of his talents. The policy was literally "he looks alright, let's bring him in."

Well around the time he started so well for us I happened to sit next to a Shrewsbury fan on a plane, I raved about Woods and he was very, very surprised saying he thought his passing was very average and he that he was well known to just pass back and sideways. He told me I'd soon see what a very average player and poor passer of the ball he was. It's all turned out just as he said.

He won player of the year twice at Shrewsbury and made the PFA League 2 team of the year and just missed out on League 2 Player of the year with them. He also won the awards the fans voted for. That's before we even count what he did at Brentford. I think that's a selective assessment on his part in truth being as though he got the nickname "Ginger Pirlo" when he was at Shrews.

O'Neil seems to want a midfielder sitting in front of the back four and the two players we have on the books who fit the bill are Cousins and Woods. Having someone on the bench who fits the formation is a pretty logical thing to do. And if Cousins is showing something in training why shouldn't earn a place on the bench?
I really haven't seen enough of Cousins to make a proper judgement and actually thought he was ok against QPR - nothing special but got stuck in and looked like he had a decent engine. He seems to be one of those players who has been damned out of hand.

The best defensive midfielder we have is Badou
