The crowd looked sparse Saturday, surely they can’t allow this to go on much longer ?

what is the point of these? What's the point of anything? reasonable existential response. I was looking for something a bit more specific, but I'll take that at this stage of the season.

I am in one of those thoughtful moods as I survey the wreckage of the season! Suppose local papers have to be very click-driven these days though. You wouldn't have seen Peter Hewitt doing them

"Hi Martin, will Jones be getting the sack?"
"He might be, but the owners are known to be patient so maybe not"
Cheers Martin, same time next week?

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/live-stoke-city-questions-answers-3322940This manager is out of his depth. Would you like bring back Tony Pulis to get some pride back to Stoke City? Robert Turner (Biddulph)I haven’t given up on this manager, Robert. But I take your point and, were there to be a vacancy, there would be a strong case for what you are suggesting. Do you think they will give NJ until the next international break now, come what may? Or is it now more or less game-to-game? Steve (Stoke)That’s what they would prefer to do, but the team cannot keep losing, and certainly can’t afford any really hefty beatings. At the moment, you have to say the players are playing for Nathan Jones. But if there was to be any evidence to the contrary, then you can see a decision being made sooner rather than later. There's been a lot of talk about Pulis recently. Do we actually know how the Coates-Pulis relationship is? Are they still close - and would it actually be a possibility? If not Pulis, do you think it would be a solid, British manager in the mould of Hughton, Allardyce, Moyes, Neil? Mark (Newcastle)Out of respect to Nathan Jones, I’m not going to start discussing possible successors, Mark, but obviously the name of Tony Pulis is going to be doing the rounds. Yes, he and Peter Coates do have a very good relationship still.

Every question revolves around Pulis or other dinosaur managers
What the fuck is wrong with stoke fans. If all we want is another dinosaur then we deserve everything that is coming our way just lately.
The city, the club and the fans are stuck in a fucking time warp.

I think spinks knows fuck all but to be fair I do feel the answers have more urgency attached to them. Think the trigger is cocked and waiting
Wish people would get off the bloody pulis love in, that man and his ego will hold the club to ransom if he feels he is to be the returning messiah. Steer cleer

Trying to envisage the meltdown on here if Stoke ever appointed someone like Sabri Lamouchi. They love him already here in Nottingham, none of the Forest fans I know were too gutted that "club legend" Martin O'Neill had to give way to him either.

Looks like the plan is to get to the international break like last time. Not sure he can make it that far without a win or two though? www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/live-stoke-city-questions-answers-3322940Realistically, how much time can we give to this manager, clearly out of his depth with roulette team selections? Are the club looking to bring in a more experienced manager? Kerry (Stoke)Experience would surely be key if there was a change Kerry, given the position Stoke are now in. As for how long Nathan Jones has, as previously said, the owners want to get to the next international break before making a decision either way, but results in the meantime will determine whether they have that luxury.

You can point the finger firmly at the owners as well on this point. Looks at Coates' appointments down the years... Ball, Macari, Jordan, Bates, Little, Megson, Pulis, Hughes, Lambert, Rowett, Jones... A handful of successes in there for sure, but no real sign of any imaginative thinking. And when there was a modicum of some (QSF) we managed to make a mess of it.

I think they'd be stupid not go on a game by game basis if I'm honest we can't afford to lose many more in the next few weeks as there's a risk we'll fall further adrift.

But I do actually think we may well need a boring, stodgy, defence-first, knows-the-league type this time - and I'm just hoping it won't be TP. But that is almost certainly what we'll end up with regardless, so we may as well be realistic. I can't even think of any non-dinosaur-types who'd be remotely in the shake-up this time with us bottom of the league and in the shit. Can anyone come up with a lower-league or foreign non-dinosaur with a decent CV who'd be prepared to come and who they'd be comfortable throwing into this shitshow with us bottom of the league?
