I was in Stoke station the other day , and there was a massive row going on about an e ticket for a family of four to somewhere for 250 quid
I didn't catch the basic problem ... dodgy phone screen ? flat battery on phone ? I don't know ?
Virgin trains staff , were saying ... you will just have to buy another ticket for another 250 quid ( I know ! that makes 500 quid !! ) and then try and claim the original 250 quid back .
The family of four were threatening major violence
And just when it was about to kick off ... my train turned up .. boll#cks !
A few days later , I was out with my two sons and one said ...I will have to set off back now ...my battery is on 21% and I have to get back to Cambridge ...and I have one of those stupid e tickets from trainline
He said ... I will just buy a normal train ticket from now on ( makes sense )
With home gates of over 20,000 . Some people are going to have problems with their phone
And like railway customers , pissed up groups of lads , families off to the match with their kids , can get violently pissed off very quickly with e ticketing
A normal ticket works fine , regardless of whether you forgot to charge your phone or not.
Why create a problem out of nowhere .
