Shaq is a show pony. Do you really think Klippety will play him in the tough latter stages of the champions league ? Arnie can carry a lesser team like West ham, Shaq couldn't do that last year at Stoke. Let’s face it, two seasons ago we had two legitimate top class PL players, not counting Butland. Last season we had one. Now we have none.

Liverpool fans love him and consider him an absolute steal.

Liverpool fans love him and consider him an absolute steal. He was an absolute steal, he is proving what a top player he is. Having the likes of Shaqiri on the bench to come on and change the game in the final 20 mins could be the difference for the scousers this season.

He also dismantled Man City singlehandedly when he was here. Well, apart from Arnie, who actually tore shreds out of their defence and scored both goals. Oh, and Bojan (how could you, of all people, neglect Bojan?!), whose movement created the space for Arnie to be played in for the goals. There were also Ryan Shawcross and the much maligned Wollscheid, who effortlessly kept out de Bruyne, Sterling, Silva and Bony, while perfectly adapting to the windy conditions that put Man City all at sea. Plus Cameron and Whelan won the midfield battle, allowing our front three to weave their magic. Let's not turn one of our best team performances into another chapter of the Shaqiri hagiography. Incidentally, I was looking through some old Oatcakes yesterday and came across the last issue from last season, featuring the player of the year award. It was interesting that Joe Allen won by a reasonably big margin as they go, with Shawcross in second place and Zouma in third. Shaqiri was out in fourth place. His handful of wonderful, match winning performances has rather made the vast majority of anonymous performances fade from memory. I think that effect was exacerbated by Lambert's 'play nine in defence and kick it to Shaqiri' tactics.

I wish we had some "show ponies" who were involved in 42% of our goals like Shaqiri this season.

Adrian Durham “ why wasn’t Shaqiri this good for Stoke” About to discuss now Well, there are several answers to that one. Clearly he's playing in a team where the pressure is not on him to be the star. He also looks like hes actually enjoying himself now and has players on the same wavelength. He actually wants to be at Liverpool. Not something that was always obvious with us.

He has to fight hard for his place there and he's raised his game.

If you don't think Shaq carried us last season you must have been watching a different team to me, if it wasn't for him we would have been relegated much sooner in the season.

When Liverpool score I find myself looking out to see if it's Shaq and feeling quite pleased if it is him. On the other hand I hate it when Arnie scores for West Ham. Maybe I'd feel different if Arnie was scoring for a big club
Think Arnie did more for Stoke than Shaq, but overall Shaq is the better player
