I know that. But he doesn’t even get the credit his gesture deserves. But when it came out he wasn’t going to wear a poppy this year there was uproar. There wasnt though was there ? Its what he did during the silence and his post match social media shenanigans that rubbed folk up the wrong way. The majority didnt give 2 hoots about him refusing to wear a poppy. Social Media response yes ,min silence i didn't see him do anything other than walk to the dugout just the same has quite a few fans where still walking to thers seats

Anyway from what Ive seen he is getting a lot of praise for his recent gesture and rightly so.

Forget about his politics and in this instance let's just praise him for showing a compassionate side of his personality.

Trouble is mate people just have it in for him and wont give a toss about the good things he does ,they just want abuse him. That may be true for some - but I suspect a majority could not give a toss about the politics and do respect his charitable work. But (and I said this before we signed him) my problem is that having watched him for other clubs I never thought he was worth the money we were paying and, in fact, he isn't the player we need on the left of a front three or the winger in a 4 man midfield. He's far too inconsistent. I thought Ty Cambpbell did more in his cameo appearance (playing out of position) than McClean did during the match - and McClean managed to throw in some comedy defending as well as inconsistency in attack.

Totally agree. His crosses consistently hit the first defender, his shooting is dreadful and his defending is usually a reaction to what has happened resulting in a foul because he stands watching rather than a) tracking his man or b) seeing what might be about to happen.

Your comments are spot on. They are indeed. I just don't think he has a natural footballing brain, he runs around a lot but he's not particularly good at anything else.

I'd be interested to see his running stats because I don't actually think he runs much.
He's lost his man even more than choupo did last season

Please please let the comment in this morning`s mirror be true - Burnley are interested in Stoke City `Winger` James Mclean. Northern Stokie mentioned this the other day on the transfer thread, source is a Burnley chum he knows. Hopefully it's all true and gets pushed along over next few days.

if we can get our money back on him that would be a fantastic move. I think our only chance of getting £6M for McClean is if Rowett gets a new job at a club with oodles of cash.

Hopefully if someone offers us half of what we paid we'd be willing to fuck him off.
Can't see who'd match his salary / contract mind.

McClean in my opinion is not suited to playing as one of a front three. The current system doesn’t suit him and he is a liability in such a system. IF McClean is to be selected he has to play wide in a four man midfield behind the two strikers. Personally I would not select him in the first team but the manager is to blame if he is selected as one of the front three. This. He’s not a forward, but there’s a champ level winger in there somewhere.
