He had a good game today. If he can perform like that each week then that £6m won't look too bad an investment at all!

Really good performance today, he got some good crosses in and tracked back defensively.
Good all round performance.

I had forgotten that he hadn't had a pre-season which could explain his slow start.

Showed today that he can put a good ball in the box.
He might not have pace and skill, but if he can get in to some space and get a good ball in, then he’ll do alright.

Hats off to the lad he was superb today. Didn’t think I’d ever type it but for me he was man of the match.

Just want him to do the simple things well.
That goes for others too.

Did anyone not jump up when he scored?

I'm pleased for the guy. He's taken some puerile stick on here, when other players on the pitch were playing just as badly as he was.
Today shows how confidence makes a huge difference to a player's and team's performance. His goal was a little lucky, but he took his chance and suddenly he is a new player.
When the second goal went in, the confidence of the team leaped up. The actual technical performance was not a lot better, they created more, but didn't score a 3rd, even against 10 men, and missed lots of chances. Nevertheless they actually looked like a team playing for each other instead of hiding and arguing.

Did anyone not jump up when he scored? There'd have been a good few most probably, ... especially the ones who'd written him off on here.

A lot better but still showed why we need better.
The whole left hand side did and Pieters was 200 times worse but it was like night and day watching the left hand side do simple things than the right.
But a good hit for the goal.

A fighter on and off the pitch, showed desire and hunger for the ball ⚽️ good going forward but what ground he covered when tracking back to tackle his opponent was truly exceptional, a inspiration. !

Much much improved today - They put nothing on him or peiters today though, no pressure on either of them, which gave them lots of time and allowed them both to get forward.
Take nothing away from his desire to put balls into the box though, that's what he should be doing.

I like him. I was skeptical when we bought him in, and his quality on the ball has been lacking up till today, but he runs his bollocks off week in, week out. Delighted with his performance today, really deserves his goal too. Excellent.

Well done James McClean! Thoroughly deserved and pleased for him, particularly given the stick dished out.

The thing that stood out for me today wasn't his crossing with both feet or his goal it was his work rate forwards and especially backwards. One in particular in the second half when Dicko I think it was was one on one with Shawcross. McClean ran like a train diagonally across the pitch caught Dicko slowed him right up and blunted any threat he might have posed. Excellent. And he wasn't even our 4th best player either.

Did anyone not jump up when he scored? Me. Won't boo or anything but I won't celebrate or cheer his name either. If people can put his beliefs aside whilst he plays in red and white then that's fair enough. But I can't.

Did anyone not jump up when he scored? Guy near me stuck his fingers up at him. However you view his politics Id have celebrated Osama Bin Laden scoring for us today. It feels like an eternity since we last won a game comfortably.
