Surely though, for a 6M fee and probable >1M a year, he has to be up there on pro rata grounds? We are getting nowhere near value for money from him. For the outlay, he is simply a shocking, one dimensional 'footballer'. And yes, I know he set up a goal today, and nodded two across the box against QPR. Woo As I said bang average which is all 6 million gets these days, it is chicken feed. I'm just waiting for the game he gets his customary red card when the red mist descends. Has at least one a season.

He was abysmal along with woods.
There is little evidence he can play football. God knows how he's made a career out of it

When he closes down his man you think "he's going to do something here"... Then all of a sudden the opposition player simply skampers away ... And McClean fades into the distance and he's lost to the realms of time. Seriously tho, he just gets lost, pulled out of position, even when defending he is simply illuded, as if he were a paper bag in the wind.... Just look at their goal today. Peiters does crap but where is McClean????

I've never seen a footballer stare at his own feet so much when he's running with the ball, surely it's only a matter of time before he runs into an advertising hoarding and ends up flat on his face in the stand.

McClean in my opinion is not suited to playing as one of a front three. The current system doesn’t suit him and he is a liability in such a system. IF McClean is to be selected he has to play wide in a four man midfield behind the two strikers. Personally I would not select him in the first team but the manager is to blame if he is selected as one of the front three. Totally agree, would be ok (only ok) as left mid in a 4-4-2 but as part of the front three, just doesn't work. He has scored 1 goal all season from one of the most attacking positions on the pitch. And I can't remember him really looking like adding to it. Rowett hass got to start looking at other options in that position. 16 matches, 1 goal, 4 assists. Compare that with Joe Lolley at forest. 20 matches, 6 goals, 6 assists. I'm not sure what Forest paid for Lolley but I highly doubt it was more than £6m.

My problem with him is that he has the instinct to always play the ball back to the player who played it too him and usually putting us in a slightly more negative position than when the ball is distributed to him. Its says that he is not confident to move forward or is not seeing forward opportunities.
I don't think he's as bad as some are wanting make out btw.
I just wonder if we will ever learn to spell his name correctly before he retires or leaves.

The difference between him and Clucas in that left wide position was pretty eye opening. I don't think I have ever seen McClean make a pass through the channel like Clucas did for Afobe. McClean is a head down run hard and hit a hopeful cross and loved by GR for his energy. However neither Berahino or Afobe will benefit from aerial crosses, they are play on the shoulder waiting for a through ball type forwards. That's why Afobe did so well at Wolves who recognised this strength. I am hoping that Clucas is the manager's choice for the left sided front three before McClean, and he is consigned to the bench, where in fairness his energy is an asset late on in a game. However I have a sinking feeling that Rowett will replace Etebo with Clucas and continue with McClean merely because they are both HIS chosen players.

Don't see it happening.

Doesnt make him any better at fooball mind 😊 This is where i am with it. I don't go around checking what awesome stuff folk do in their lives, even our own players. So, yes, kudos for him... Lots of people do good stuff. He wants to be judged based on what he does on the pitch... And i think he's mediocre.

Millionaire football player gives relatively small amount of money to help others: well done.
The great majority of this lad's supporters were adamant that he should be judged purely on what he does on the football pitch so...
Very, very average footballer. So far (one shanked volley aside) he has done sod all for SCFC, which is about as much as anyone, who had seen him play previously, expected.
If someone offered money for him in January I would like the club to accept it as I'm sure we have players at the club who could do a better job if given the chance.
