If we can get Clucas to play the kind of holding role he did at Hull he’ll do a good job, but it still doesn’t really help us with the isolated centre forward issue does it?

A lot depends on who the forward is of the apparent desired trio doesnt it? Will it be an out & out striker pushing us more towards a 4-4-2, or maybe a wide player allowing Ince to move across? I think he will have half an eye on Clucas at left back to, similar to Osborn at Forest if anybody saw last night?

I agree with the first half of that Rob but it was always going to mean a change in formation to sort out the second half wasn't it?

Nixon... www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/6973526/stoke-city-news-swansea-sam-clucas/STOKE CITY have made a shock late £8 million swoop for Swansea’s versatile Sam Clucas. Gary Rowett stepped in to agree a fee for Clucas tonight. It follows the collapse of his move to Premier League Burnley because he won’t be fit for a month. The Potters are not concerned about his knee injury. And they will sign Clucas after he passes a medical. That check-up is due to take place tomorrow.

I thought it might work at first with Etebo pushing on but by the end of pre-season it was painfully obvious that we needed some sort of creative presence in the final third.

What was his knee injury? Ligament damage?

The only thing that makes this have any sense to it at all is Badou is off somewhere tomorrow. Ideally to Newcastle with Ritchie coming the other way.

What was his knee injury? Ligament damage? Carlos Carvahal described it as an "external ligament" back in April, but that was the same time he was banging on about fish and barbeques, so it might actually be a head injury.

I don't understand why we'd splash out that sort of money on a player that obviously won't pass a medical.

If Burnley aren't concerned why aren't we? Burnley are tight arse payers and are not as desperate as us. If it is medial ligament damage, that is fairly straightforward these days. Better that than an ACL reconstruction (trust me, I know!). If the operation was a success and he is in rehab, he should pass a medical. Get him in - versatile, decent midfielder (can cover left back too) at a reasonable price. Get Badou and Imbula out of the club somehow, as well as Adam, Fletcher and Choupo. Use saved wages to bring in a support striker/attacking midfielder as well.

Didn’t realise he was injured. So he’s had no pre-season, he’s going to be playing catch up for a fair while isn’t he?

On the basis he's currently recovering from injury and not fit for a month? And this could well be the reason he didn't sign for Burnley which would make more sense than them not agreeing personal terms.

Why am I worried.
Is this turning into panic buying ? You would hope that these(our) people know what they are doing.
I have had a bad knee for 50 years and once they go they go.

i feel as though i'm over this season already.
i can't see how we need another injured midfielder with no pre season training and an added headache for the manager, when we're desperate in other ares.

Recovering from an injury and not being match fit does not equate to failing a medical which is designed to determine any underlying issues not whether he can play on Saturday.

"sky sources" saying that Wolves are keen to sign him... The closer it gets to deadline day the more unreliable "sky sources" become. By deadline day half of it is made up bollocks just to look like something is happening when it's not.
