i feel as though i'm over this season already. i can't see how we need another injured midfielder with no pre season training and an added headache for the manager, when we're desperate in other ares. He will be playing the holding midfielder role presumably.

Didn’t realise he was injured. So he’s had no pre-season, he’s going to be playing catch up for a fair while isn’t he? Perfect the rest might catch him up by then.

Do we need him?
And do we need him in this condition?
Very average player barre one good game against aresnal, and they were ragged in that game.

Nixon... www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/6973526/stoke-city-news-swansea-sam-clucas/STOKE CITY have made a shock late £8 million swoop for Swansea’s versatile Sam Clucas. Gary Rowett stepped in to agree a fee for Clucas tonight. It follows the collapse of his move to Premier League Burnley because he won’t be fit for a month. The Potters are not concerned about his knee injury. And they will sign Clucas after he passes a medical. That check-up is due to take place tomorrow. Gary Rowett STEPPED IN 🤔

Swansea are taking one hell of a hit on him aren't they?
They paid £15 million for him 12 months ago and now they're selling him to us for £8 million, I guess that's an example of how you can shift your dead wood, if you really want to.

Swansea signed him for £15million?!?!?!?!
Good player at the price we're paying but come on.
I think the main attraction is that he can pretty much play across all of the left side and central areas. And it would indicate Rowett intends to carry on with the defensive 433, no?

I'm struggling to think of a more underwhelming signing for £8m. Mind you I was struggling to think of a more underwhelming loan signing than Williams. Thinking about it I was pretty underwhelmed by the signing of McClean.
I'm sure they'll all prove me wrong.

He would add some much needed height in the middle of the park and Ive always thought of him as being reasonably decent on the ball? The fact that Dyche was interested in him for Burnley is a positive as he gets it right more often than not.
Not an obvious destroyer that we could really do with but a better option than Darren Fletcher so it looks a reasonable deal.

Decent enough player.
But doesn’t appear to solve anything on the face of it.
Knee injury?

Reading the thread and just burst out laughing - the kind of laugh you do when you know you’ve seen too much idiocy and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Good little player I think it will be a good signing. He’s more defensively minded than Allen, Etebo and Badou.
The fact he was linked with numerous prem clubs says a lot. Hope this one comes off

I don't understand why we'd splash out that sort of money on a player that obviously won't pass a medical. He surely has to pass the medical first? 🤔

They over paid in the first place which seems to be standard practise nowadays. And this deal is Championship to Championship and not Championship to Premier League which is another reason it's probably cheaper. Maybe we're also getting a discount because we're buying broken goods with his injury

apparently he 'links play'
Not a defensive midfield player whatsoever but one who holds his position and is disciplined
Assume Badou is off to fund this so seems a reasonably good signing at the price being quoted

Knee injury? If Burnley aren't concerned why aren't we? Presumably we may become concerned after the medical tomorrow! Doctor Nick!

Nixon seems to suggest Burnley's problem was just the fact he'd be out for a further month, rather than any underlying fear about his knee.
But the medical will reveal all!
You don't get much for £8m these days, so I think it looks decent enough at that price, given his Hull form and the chance of a fresh start here

He surely has to pass the medical first? 🤔 People pass medicals all the time aslong as the injury isn’t serious and the club know all about it. Stoke clearly know he’s injured so the medical will ignore the injury he has and check everything else. He’ll pass it no problem

Decent enough player. But doesn’t appear to solve anything on the face of it. Knee injury? We do need a player who can play as Dm, lb and lw. I think the problem you’re thinking of is the fact the central midfield don’t seem to be able to play together . I imagine Rowett thinks he can. Still need a forward, mind.

No idea what the scale this injury is so could be doing with a report there from someone. And what kind of midfielder is he? And what does GR stepping in mean, that we were pissing about again?? So many questions.

On the basis he's currently recovering from injury and not fit for a month? And this could well be the reason he didn't sign for Burnley which would make more sense than them not agreeing personal terms. Recovering from an injury and not being match fit does not equate to failing a medical which is designed to determine any underlying issues not whether he can play on Saturday. Sensible move £8million for an injured player

A bit of an underwhelming arrival if he signs, but if he fits into Rowett’s plans, I’m fine with that. I just want to see us have a team that functions, and players that fit the game plan. If Clucas ticks those boxes, fair enough.
I’ll reserve judgement on Rowett until he has his own team in place and then we can see how good (or not) he actually is.
